This was our 2nd visit to this Casino, and it was just as good an experience and the 1st time. It was clean, with a separate smoking area. The staff was friendly. Drinks from the bar were a bit pricey for the size, but they were good. We didn't win any big amounts or jackpots, however, there were others who hit it big the first night we were there. Will visit Harrah's Casino Metropolis, IL again! See more..
3.5Allstate Arena(402 reviews) - A Huge Venue With Small Seats Sunday: Arenas & Stadiums
We visited here last Saturday for a concert and the row A (sec. 215) seats we had were really small, and packed together worse than airline seats. A person of size would have a very hard time in these seats. There was one who came in late and was next to hubby and we ended up asking the usher for two other seats. She was super nice and let us sit farther back in that section but the view was still fine. The air circulation was better after being reseated too. I don't know why huge venues like this don't have more ceiling fans. I have mentioned this in many reviews. However, the show itself was great and our seats, once we moved, were very comfortable. By the way, a can of beer that night was $18 and the artist's t shirt was $60. See more..
3.5Belvedere Mansion(350 reviews) - Historical house Sunday: 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM Historic Sites

3.0Hollywood Casino Amphitheater(309 reviews) - Men allowed in ladies restroom but women turned away from men's restroom?!?!? Sunday: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Theaters
I have been to this venue many times. This past time I was very disappointed. The price of food and beverages keep going up and the lines for the women's bathrooms are always super long (especially during busy concerts). With that being said about the bathroom issue, I noticed that men are able to go into the women's bathroom, but when women at a later point during the concert tried to use the men's bathroom security was outside letting them know they could not. I am sorry but if men are able to go into the ladies restroom them us ladies should be able to use the much less crowded men's restroom. At least get a bunch of port a potties or something. The situation of bathroom swapping would be resolved and you would not offend some people.See more..

This is a large (80 sites) big city RV Park next to a hotel and casino - check in at the hotel. They have a combination of pull through and back in sites available. The gravel spots are off asphalt access roads - they are mostly level and long enough for most RVs. The hookups (water and electric) are convenient and functioned properly - there is a dump station next to the hotel on your way out. No cable TV, plenty of OTA stations, and a big sky for satellite. Their included WiFi was not available in the park, and the Verizon cell service was good. The showers were clean and well maintained (need to borrow a key card). This is not an inexpensive place to stay, but most RV Parks in proximity to a big city also are not. Probably a good value for a short stay.See more..

3.5Argosy Casino Alton(166 reviews) - Unique Among Casinos Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 AM Casinos
Argosy Casino is different from the other 5 casinos in the greater St. Louis (MO) area. It is smaller, non-flashy, comfortable, and friendly. It is a smoke-free establishment, with designated outdoor smoking areas. There is ample parking, and shuttle or valet service, but no garage. Sections of the casino are closed on weekdays. There is a restaurant, a buffet, and a snack bar. A nice touch is the inclusion of self-serve hot chocolate along with coffee and soft drinks. There is a nice variety of slots, in the various denominations, and a few tables. Comps are more generous than at some of the other local casinos. The staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. There are regular promotions and somewhat regular entertainment. This is a retired riverboat with seating available on the decks, providing excellent views of the Mississippi River. The Argosy offers a nice change-of-pace to the larger, flashier & smokier St. Louis casinos.See more..
We’ve been coming to KAP for years and it never disappoints. Lots of stuff to do for little kids and big kids. Wednesday is the best day to go, BOGO with a County Market receipt! My kids, ages 15 and 24, like just about everything. I only do the lazy river, wave pool and adult pool. It would be nice if they offered shade over the lounge chairs next to the zero depth entry pool. People move those all over to find shade. The restrooms were clean when we first arrived early but were really dirty and no toilet paper or soap in the ladies restroom by closing time. Restroom checks all day would be nice. The new bar is nice. They have several offerings including strawberry daiquiris and margaritas. My daiquiri was $6.75 but had a fair amount of alcohol. Overall a fun place!See more..

I was traveling through western Kentucky into Missouri and I decided to stop at Fort Defiance on the southern tip of Illinois. This was the site of an old Civil War camp (long gone). What makes it amazing is that it sits on the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, and you can walk right down to the water. There is not much there, just an observation deck, a small monument, a picnic table, a trash can, and a portapotty. Still, I was excited to stop there - a 15 minute visit. You'll probably have to drive over either river to get there.See more..
If you’re hitting the Southern Illinois wine trail, you have to hit Von Jakob. They have many delicious wines, with many sweet options. They also have slushes and a full food menu. Go on a day when it’s beautiful outside. You won’t regret the views. I ordered fish tacos, the Johnny Apple and Ridge Red sweet wines. Go! See more..
Cousin to the Hollywood Palms cinema in Naperville, this theater is likewise paying homage to the glory of movies past. Not quite as ornate as the Palms it still has plenty of movie posters and props to set the stage so to speak. There's a cool car from the Blues Brothers movie to greet you from the front rooftop. The "Boulevard" inside is plastered with photos of all the great stars both present and past. Each theater, and there are at least eight, has a different theme. Ours was Star Wars, death star included. Unlike the Palms the seating has not be upgraded to recliners and still has the less comfortable desk chairs. Dining and a full bar is part of the deal. I had the Santa Monica shrimp and fries and it was very good. My wife had the chicken fingers and they were a bit dry. Service was decent although a call button would be handy. By the way, the handprints on the lobby wall showed my hand to be as big as Arnold's, so there.See more..

3.0Pearl Lake(64 reviews) - Too many silly rules Bodies of Water
The grounds look a bit run down. The leaves from last fall have not been cleaned up and were a possible fire hazard We paid ahead to use the beach but it turned out to be too cold to swim and were told we couldn't get a refund. We wanted to fish and picnic on the other side of the lake and although the lake was completely deserted, we were told we couldn't be there because the scuba divers might be too close! We will not be staying here again.See more..
3.5Aerie's Winery(57 reviews) - Disappointing service and food Wineries & Vineyards
I tried to send them a private message. The aerial ride up and down, and the views are perfect. The food and the service, need some work. I ordered food upstairs and sat inside, facing the bar. A waitress brought the bartender a glass of wine from outside, which had a bee/wasp/fly or something else. The bartender used a straw to fish it out, then poured out about an inch and a half of the wine, topped off the original glass of wine and sent it back outside! We all know Aeries makes enough money to give your customer a fresh glass og wine. We had ordered food by then and got uncomfortable about what we were about to ear. My spinach salad (with additional salmon for $5) was no better. There was hardly any cheese and the salmon was shredded. It looked cheap for what we paid. But, I know life goes on for them as they are a big operation and will always have a crowd.See more..
3.0Frank Fritz Finds(55 reviews) - I would not put my name on this place Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
We looked for this place on main street and couldn't find it. Finally we noticed that we had to enter through a bar. It turns out that all of the windows were covered by pull down doors. The bartender went out after we left and opened them, and this was at 11:30am. Inside the bar it was dark and even darker inside the shop. It was very musty smelling and so dark it was hard to really see anything very good. I would not recommend this place at all.See more..
3.0Copper Dock Winery(49 reviews) - Use Caution Sunday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
My girlfriends and I went to this winery for a fun "girls day" and were very disappointed in the service. It was about 45 minutes away from where we live, but wanted to check it out. We got to the winery and decided to sit outside. The bees were horrible, so we had our waiter light the fire pit that was in the center of our table that is ran from propane gas. We noticed that the other two tables next to us had their fire pits going, so we thought maybe it would help. About 20 minutes later, the owner, who was a female, came over to hand us coasters for our drinks. She said, "Why do we have the fire pit going, ladies?" I am assuming she was asking this because it was a rather warm day, so we explained to her that we thought it would help with the bees. She said, "Well, you know I have to pay for that. So let me know when you are finished." Our jaws dropped! We had a table full of drinks and food, and she had the nerve to ask us why we had the fire pit going. The service itself was not the best. We were very offended that she said this to us. She also went over to another table..who also had their fire pit lit...and did not say a word to them!!! We were paying customers, and I can guarantee that the money we spent there was more than enough to cover the propane that was used to light the fire pit at our table. I will not be going back to this winery. They seem very cheap!!!! If you don't want the fire pits lit, then don't put them at your tables!!!!!See more..
We have been to this venue on a number of occasions. Very easy in-out and the commute home is very short. Sound is good and the venders are pleasant.See more..
3.5Brunswick Zone XL(46 reviews) - Fun, but costs can add up Sunday: 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM Bowling Alleys
We often get 'free' coupons for the Brunswick Zone, and have been there quite a few times. It's an amazing, bright, colorful, and fun place for family gatherings. You can do arcade, bowling, eating, and laser tag. Staff are friendly and professional, the facilty is well maintained. The only caveat I would give is that costs can escalate quickly if you're not careful. For instance you make get a free game of bowling coupon. Do you need shoes? Extra cost. Do you want to bowl with that person? Extra Cost. Want a Coke to drink? Extra cost. Everything has a price, so while I like this place, just keep an eye on the old wallet.See more..

A collection of books on the sublect is available to browse while at the Museum. We are always on alert for information and adding new exhibits to our collection. While on a trip to North Carolina, we scheduled a stay here for a few night. The campground is within the park. It is very small. Not a hung number of sites, but the park this time of year is very green. Thanks to all the rain. The roads and pads are all asphalt. Green grass and plenty of tall shade trees throughout. Close to the Ohio River. We arrived during the week and the campground was empty until the weekend we left. Then it filled up. It and been a rainy week and with Covid, the pool was closed and the park was pretty empty. The only knock I can give the campground was it close proximity to a small maintenance yard. Early in the morning there would be a couple vehicles coming in and out. The best part was The Chocolate Factory was right across the street from the park entrance.See more..
3.0Hickory Point Mall(37 reviews) - Great bargains Sunday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM Shopping Malls

Camped here last weekend with a group. Nice level, wooded sites. Only drawback is that there is only electrical hookups. No water or sewer, but the dump station was easy to get in and out of when we left. We experienced a lot of bugs, but that was due to recent rains. Others who camp there regularly said that is unusual. There are nice fire pits with a cooking grill on them. Restaurants and gas stations within a few miles if needed. Nice place to bike.See more..

3.0Hidden Lake Winery(34 reviews) - Will Not Go Back Spent < 1 hour Wineries & Vineyards
Planned on ordering a bottle of wine. Needed to taste to know what we liked. Charged a $1.00 for every taste. What a gimmick! Why would you buy a bottle of wine for $20 when you have no idea if you like it or not. Every place I have been to before would at least give you a small taste before you bought. Food prices our very high also.See more..
3.5Villa Marie Winery(33 reviews) - Good food Sunday: 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards

3.5Conover Square(31 reviews) - Extensive collectible collection in great old building Shopping Malls
I had a great time here on a rainy day last month. There's something for everyone. Although it was very quiet and not a lot of staff, people were very helpful and knowledgeable. The shop I first entered downstairs had stuff of variable quality and so jampacked that you didn't need assistance but it looked like there were some really cool things there. Sports stuff, old tech, many things. I didn't see all the downstairs shops. Upstairs I visited a spacious huge section with individual seller's nooks selling antiques, including a lot of kitchen furnishings ( my interest) which were nicely displayed. Also antique postcards and many other treasures. I was told exactly where to look for what I was looking for and found it! There is a fast food Mexican restaurant( Hector's) on the first floor which is clearly very popular, but my chicken taco was prepared without flavor , and the salsa I then bought to improve it was also disappointing. Fun stop for browsing for collectibles!See more..
We went to Shoeless Joe's Ale House & Grille to watch the last game of the Cavaliers and the Warriors. Interestingly, there is a lot of old White Sox memorabilia. Did I say that there were a lot of TVs? I counted about 30, at least. Some of the booths had two TVs, one aimed at each side of the booth. There is plenty of parking. They have a large and varied selection of beers. The staff was very efficient and friendly, even though it was a very crowded evening.See more..
3.5Moretti's Riverside McHenry(30 reviews) - Average Sunday: 11:30 AM - 10:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Bars & Clubs
Over the years at Moretti's, we've become a little obsessed in our quest to show you a good time. Are we a sit-down restaurant? Pizza joint? Sports bar? Banquet Hall? 3.5Chevrolet Hall of Fame Museum(30 reviews) - You have to be Chevy lover. I'm not. Sunday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
The cars listed on the website may not be there. I wanted to see the Corvairs but they are no longer stored there. The museum is an old grocery store. To me it appears the owner has some nice cars and that he leases heated space to others (I didn't ask). And then charges to let folks view the cars in storage. It's an okay stop. They don't have a restroom and you must go to restaurant two doors down. Among the collection are some 50s and 60s vets, as well as newer ones, Cameros from 1968 on, and several impalas. There's plenty of memorabilia along the walls and a couple of 30s chevys. Again I'm not a chevy aficionado so I might be a little harsh.See more..
