We went for a leisurely ride along the river for my birthday. It was such a nice day and several families with bicycles used the taxi to cross or get to a restaurant. The captain was cheerful and fun. Pointed out some wildlife to us. Overall just a great experience. Will definitely go again. See more..
  2. 5.0 Cave In Rock Ferry (50 reviews)
    - Neat ride and something different

Maybe I'm weird but I think this is so cool, and interesting to watch! We had a very short wait on both sides, but I enjoyed watching the workers and everything they have to do for each trip across the river, and how they deal with the current of the river. It amazed me that we were loaded with a semi truck so close that we could reach out the window and touch it. We went across to Kentucky to visit the Amish stores, but they were closed until March. But we would have done the ferry anyway. We got some neat pictures of the river and it's a great view of Cave-in Rock as you cross! See more..

If you visit Grafton, taking a trip across Brussels Ferry is a rite of passage. It’s a family tradition that never disappoints. Seeing your children’s eyes light up when you take them on their first family outing across the river is priceless. Time and time again their enthusiasm will never waiver, I promise you. Park and walk along the deck for an uplifting experience that your family will thank you for every time. The ride doesn’t end at the bank. Brussels is captivating with plenty more to do. Even if all you decide to do is drive around on the hills for what my kids call the “tummy tickles”. Enjoy! See more..
  4. 4.5 Golden Eagle Ferry (10 reviews)

What an experience! A little ferry which holds, maybe, nine vehicles, takes you from Gold Eagle in St. Charles County, MO to beautiful rural Calhoun County north of Grafton and Alton, IL. A second ferry, the free Brussels Ferry, takes you across the Illinois River to Route 100, the Great River Road, on the Illinois side. Very peaceful, lots of egrets, herons, and other birds visible from the ferry. $9 for a passenger car. See more..
  5. 5.0 Grafton Ferry (1 review)
    - Unique Transportation
    Saturday: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Ferries
The Grafton Ferry runs between St. Charles (Hwy 370, to HWY 94, to Grafton Ferry Road, follow Grafton ferry Road till it ends at the ferry entrance) and Grafton, Illinois. Not to be confused with the Golden Eagle Ferry, you will see signs for Golden Eagle Ferry, not so much for the Grafton Ferry. The Ferry was $8 for a car and $15 if you paid in advance for a round trip. At the time we went, the ferry was only running on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. They only take CASH or a check. Getting on the ferry was easy. A line forms for the ferry. Once the ferry is unloaded, they load about 15 cars on the ferry. You can get out of your car to enjoy the scenery and get some fresh air. The trip takes about 8-10 minutes. We took photos and took in the sights from the river. They do have some brochures of Grafton and Illinois on the ferry for you to take to help you explore the town while visiting. One of the members of our group had not been on the ferry and enjoyed it. The rest of us had been on a ferry before, but it is still fun to go again. I think adults enjoy this just as much as children do. Its a unique way of getting to Illinois and it takes about a half hour off your travel time. Make sure you are in your car when they doc as it is a fast paced process. Once they open the gates, you need to be ready to move. See more..
