I had several memorial pieces (for myself and family members) made by Jim using my husband's ashes this week. I am so appreciative for the whole process. Jim takes a personal approach and I appreciate that, because you feel very vulnerable leaving precious ashes with someone you've just met. He asks for pictures of the loved one, and he learns all about them when he talks to you beforehand. While he's creating the pieces, he listens to their favorite music and talks to them. Those who want to do more can take “wet clay” classes, and learn how to form traditional pottery on the wheel or by hand. It has a fun atmosphere, and the staff are very helpful and enthusiastic. You can just drop in to choose a piece of pottery and paint it, or take a short wet clay workshop. I've been to Mermet Sprigs for multiple dives, including dive classes and recreational dives. The dive site is great for training or someone looking for a couple recreational dives. There are plenty of things to see below the surface and lines are well marked. The staff there are great to work with and have such a depth of experience and desire to help connect people with diving they can only be described as First Class. My two favorite things to visit are the 727 plane or looking for paddlefish. My only note of caution is be sure to look at water visibility on their website. On some days the visibility can be less than ideal. I know I will be back many more times.See more..
