Thrown Elements Pottery, Illinois, United States

A fun activity for adults and children

This is a “paint your own pottery” studio, and a fun experience for both kids and adults. After painting a piece of pre-formed pottery (such as mugs, plates, other tableware, and decorative pieces) with glazes, it is fired, and then you have a fully functional ceramic piece to use at home. Those who want to do more can take “wet clay” classes, and learn how to form traditional pottery on the wheel or by hand. It has a fun atmosphere, and the staff are very helpful and enthusiastic. You can just drop in to choose a piece of pottery and paint it, or take a short wet clay workshop. Time needed to do this is just dependent on the complexity of the piece, and how complex you want to get with your painting design. They also offer children’s pottery painting birthday parties. I am a customer; I have been taking adult wheel throwing classes there for about 3 years.

    lowkey gem
I always come by thrown elements pottery when I’m back home and need a place to practice throwing while visiting Illinois. never disappoints and feels like home every time I go back there and the staff is so friendly and helpful. I also signed my mom up for classes here. would highly recommend

    Very enjoyable
I brought my 2 grandchildren here for an afternoon of pottery painting. There is "drop-in" availability which makes it easy to do something on the spur of the moment. The staff is very helpful, and it is a fun activity. The charge for drop-in is $7 which I think is reasonable, but be prepared for expensive pottery cost. The pottery is pre-fired and the piece includes glazing, but it is still costly for even the smallest of pieces.
