    - Hike of a lifetime

    Little Grand Canyon image
For a friends bachelorette party 8 of us hiked the Little Grand Canyon. There was a major thunderstorm the night before we hiked the trail. The rocks were slick but with trekking poles it was easier than anticipated with the rain. There are steps carved into the canyon where you climb up and down and this helped a lot. This has to be one of my favorite hikes I’ve ever done. The views were so beautiful. I would not bring children or dogs on the trail it would be too difficult. Also, be prepared to get wet. There were spots where the water was ankle to shin deep and we had to cross it. This is an amazing trail, just be safe and know your abilities/limits. See more..

    - At 5 foot you can access the rock.

We make a few trips to "Our Rock" each year. Proposed there in October 2012 when we could walk out to the rock. When river level is around 5 foot at Cape Girardeau you can get out to the rock. They have signs posted warning to not climb it. There is a lot of rock just south of Tower Rock that is accessable unless river is higher than normal. From there you get a different view. See more..

  4. 5.0 Stoneface Research Natural Area (1 review)
    - A great stop in Shawnee National Forest

    Stoneface Research Natural Area image
We are so glad we made this stop. The hike was a relatively quick one, but you had to watch your step, as there were alot of roots and rocks, as with many places in the area. We only hiked to the top of Stoneface, as we were on a schedule, but well worth the stop. We were the only ones there. It's amazing to see this and you would think someone sat there and carved it - that's how real it looks. Along the trail up, we also passed a small cave. Once you get to the top, it's a fantastic view of the area. See more..
