We are excited to announce that we are reopening to the public. We've been working hard to retrain our existing staff, bring on new team members, learn a new ordering system and create the safest space possible for you. Our reopening includes indoor seating in our new Visitors Center and seating for over 100 in our outdoor Whiskey Garden. I had seen a Groupon for Mastermind Vodka Tour. Thought about buying one but the clincher was we have Timmermann House Bed and Breakfast and some recent guests had said they had gone and taken the tour and had joyed it very much. Purchased on a few weeks later and just took our tour yesterday. Travis welcomed us even though we were early. We chatted and he told us the Mastermind history. Took our tour and then enjoyed a couple of drinks Extra Spicy Bloody Mary and Cranberry juice & their wonderful vodka! Everyone was very friendly and when we were about to leave Carl arrived and greeted us like old friends. We purchased some extra bottles and we will be sending guests their way for a great adventure. This is a distillery must visit in the Chicago area. An easy ride up the Purple Line to Evanston, FEW is a small shop with a lot of personality. We had a great tour and tasting and even made friends with others on the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about FEW and whiskey in general, and I really enjoyed talking to them about the distillery and the area.See more..

I've been to my share of distillery/winery/brewhouse tours. The Stumpy's tour was a pleasure from the moment my group of eight walked in. The staff was genuine and friendly, the tasting/retail space was well organized and spotless. They have a great story to tell and they tell it enthusiastically. The young women that handled the tasting and facility tour did a truly exceptional job and were readily able to handle all off-script questions. Had a chance to meet Adam, the owner, and it's clear he cares about his business, it intimately involved and has a growth vision. This is not Woodford or Buffalo Trace or, certainly Jack. However, it's just as well run and the family/local/independent feel is apparent. This is local and easily accessible for me. It's worth a detour out of your way if it's not for you. I haven't even gotten to the bourbon, gin and vodka - all of which were well executed and delicious.See more..
Nice place to have a couple of drinks. Has a nice relaxing atmosphere. Their bourbon margarita is amazing. I also tried the pineapple island punch. A little too much coconut for my taste. My hubby had the maple old fashioned and a hibiscus Hayes . He liked them both. There was a food truck outside called Fork and Fry. I had some of the garlic and cheese fries. Too heavy for me. Built in 1857, our historic 20,000-sf structure is Illinois oldest standing brewery and distillery. These walls have endured everything from a tornado in 1901 to government raids throughout prohibition. The tour begins in the old cellar where guests learn about the early immigrant brew master, John Bielfeldt who started brewing on the property in 1850. Our collection of artifacts, curiosities, and breweriana is displayed with original photos from the property dating back to the mid 1800’s. Guests will then venture deep underground, far beneath the cellar into our subterranean artesian well. The cavernous limestone space is the source of many local legends, and the fountain head still flows with the same pristine water that made the early brewers famous.
