It is not a regular church. It is a Mormon temple: so you can just walk in and visit like a regular church. Even if it is open. Tourists are not really welcomed inside but at the entry there is a lobby/ desk and you can ask for a brochure about its history and done interiors. Very impressive from outside . See more..

While visiting Unity Temple we passed this church along the way. Little did we realize years ago that this church was used in the popular Christmas movie “Home Alone”. Unfortunately we did not get to see the inside of this lovely church but did get to take a few shots and post on Facebook to quiz friends and family. I'm really shocked that no one has reviewed the Lady of the Highway. It's a lovely tribute to people who have lost their lives along the route and keep very well by the family living there. I'm not religious but i think it's still a lovely shrine and there is an area to pray should you wish to.See more..

5.0Beloved Church(1 review) - Great Worship Churches & Cathedrals We were visiting family in Lena for a week, and I wanted to attend church services, as I had met the pastor in the past. the Worship was anointed, the people very friendly, had at least 6 people come up to me and greet and welcome me. The church sure had a family atmosphere. In fact, they were going to go gather and eat with each other on that beautiful Sunday following services. 5.0First Presbyterian Church(1 review) - Interesting looking turn-of-the-century church Architectural Buildings • Churches & Cathedrals Organized in 1857 as the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, it was only the fourth church formed in the county. The congregation initially met in a school, but its first church building quickly followed in 1858. By the close of the Civil War, the church was already beginning work on Lincoln University and decided the church's house of worship should be closer to its university. The new building, built on the corner of Pekin and Ottawa Streets, was completed in 1867. The church grew quickly though and by the 1890s was too small for the congregation. The present much larger building, built on the same site as the second, was completed in 1896. Built in the Romanesque style of red brick on a foundation of quarry-faced stone with a 109-foot spire, its sanctuary had a new Kimball pipe organ and seating for 600. The building cost $21,000. We just happened to pass by this church while driving through Lincoln, and its beautiful stained glass windows, particularly the two large arched windows with their unusual framing (particularly the one with the unusual six-pointed star at the center), really caught our eye. The sanctuary is very striking on the inside as well. It is well worth a look if you happen to be in town.See more..

The fact that EVERYONE is welcome regardless of what faiths they have known, the flags of their heritage, who they love, and who they are is excellent. The UU church is the only church I have seen truly live up to its mission. Its principles are well-established and integrated. It is small in size but mighty in its morale. I LOVE the “Black Lives Matter” sign they have beneath their building sign. In addition, they believe in the reality of science, the legality of all humans, love for all people, women’s rights, and much more. During COVID-19, they also went exclusively virtually via the Zoom app until just a few months ago when they went multi-platform (in-person and on Zoom). When the state of emergency was first declared, they went virtually in just a matter of 3 days thanks to their ministerial, office, and technology team. They have enough sense and compassion to care about the needs and rights of others and live up to that mission. My advice is to check out this place if you are looking for a religious and spiritual home that is different than the norm. We are covenant-based vs. creed based. We welcome open-minded people that want to experience “family” in its strongest of spiritual forms.See more..
