Wow, you can see this from everywhere when in Mauvoo
It is not a regular church. It is a Mormon temple: so you can just walk in and visit like a regular church. Even if it is open. Tourists are not really welcomed inside but at the entry there is a lobby/ desk and you can ask for a brochure about its history and done interiors. Very impressive from outside .

Nice to Walk Around
Gorgeous white temple overlooking the river, it’s easy to see why they chose this site to build their church. Would have loved to gain access, but I’m not converting to gain that opportunity. You can at least get inside the gate and walk around this tidy and impressive site. They certainly know how to build impressive structures. Free and impressive.
