  1. 4.0 Chicago Improv (121 reviews)
    - New Years Eve Dinner

    Chicago Improv image
The first time we went to this Improv at Woodfield Mall. It was a NYE special dinner & comedy. As expected, it was crowded. Drinks were served quickly. But then it was hit and miss with the food delivery. Some rows were already done and eating dessert, while we were still waiting for our salads. Food quality was ok, you don't expect a 5star restaurant. At some point the non-dinner crowd comes in and joins you at your table. Weird. Comedian Rocky Laporte was funny, the 2 openers were good. Joe Diamond is the Mystery Performer everyone is quietly talking about. Some call him a mind reader, others call him psychic, and still more call him a magician. You now have the chance to decide for yourself, up close and personal! Only 13 people will be admitted to his studio in the 'supposedly haunted' Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake for this unique experience. “If you don’t already worship at the feet of Joe Diamond, you should really get on board.” - Varla Ventura, author of “Beyond Bizarre” "Joe Diamond is the Devil" - WGN News "I am totally floored" - You & Me This Morning "That's impossible!" - The Today Show It doesn't matter if you are a believer or a skeptic, we predict you will have a good time! We visited Aurora to see the rock the yacht concert last evening. We were simply amazed by the physical space of this venue-- we were able to get up close with lawn chairs which is something that's unheard of at other venues we've visited. The bathrooms were clean, the vendors were close, and it had a homey and big time feel all at once. We can certainly make the drive to see a concert here again!! See more..

  8. 5.0 ComedySportz - Quad Cities (9 reviews)
    - Funny Date Night
    Saturday: 12:00 PM - 11:30 PM Theatre & Performances
I've seen this place for so many years but was so weary about going to see what it's about. Just recently moved back to town from a bigger city and we needed something to do. Well ComedySportz was it. We had a BOGO and took the leap of faith and it was the best decision we've ever made. The teams were funny and the ref made sure the crowd was engage the entire night. We made the family friendly 7pm show but was able to stay for the 17 and over 930 show but that is the plan for another night. If you haven't tried this you are missing out on nice clean comedy. 10. 5.0 Dixon Stage Left (2 reviews)
    - Fabulous black box theater
    Theatre & Performances
    Dixon Stage Left image
Stage Left a fabulous smaller "black box" theater. They do 4-5 main productions a year that run over a series of consecutive weekends, and also host special shows. The place gets better every time we go. There's a bar available in an anteroom connected to the theater. It's an intimate venue - seats fewer than 100 and puts you up close and personal with the performers on stage. Just saw Shadow Box, a powerful show about hospice care. Their production agenda has a ton of variety - somber pieces like this one, lighthearted comedies, and some really interesting special musical performances. You really should go! See more..

  12. 5.0 Clinton County Showcase (1 review)
    - A real find!
Spent 1-2 hours Theaters • Theatre & Performances
This is a small older theater, but either has been refurbished, or was very well taken care of. There's not a bad seat in the place because of the small size. And from the play I saw there, there's some extreeeemely talented folks in the area! My only complaint is that, at times, the background music was too loud, and drowned out the actors. Both ticket and concession prices are VERY reasonable. We had a very enjoyable time. See more..
