  1. 4.5 Eckert's Belleville Farm (308 reviews)
    - We ❤️ Eckert’s!
    Thursday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Farms
    Eckert's Belleville Farm image
We recently took our grandson to the Belleville Eckert’s to pick strawberries on a sunny Friday morning and had the most wonderful time! He was so excited to ride the tractor-pulled wagon to the strawberry field, which was full of beautiful bright red strawberries! The strawberries are the tastiest and sweetest of any strawberries I have ever eaten. After we finished, the wagon took us back to where we paid for our strawberries. Everyone was so friendly. After we put our strawberries in the car, we decided to eat lunch at the restaurant.....everything we had was delicious. There’s also a little outdoor cafe area with tables where you can purchase ice cream cones, etc , and a cute indoor market area that we always love visiting. It was a fun experience and we will definitely return. We can’t wait for peach and apple picking season! See more..

    - Lovely place for a wedding!
    Farms
    Blackberry Farm image
As you can see from the pics there's lots to do, but we stayed in barn for visiting & snacks, then on to gazebo. Groom had hired beautiful group of 4-5 musicians playing violins & soft music. Bridal party came out of small building down a path, looking lovely as flower girls spread petals, sigh. We were covered & comfy, great views, beautiful service. So sorry we missed the train ride before the service, looked verrry interesting. See more..
  4. 4.5 Edwards Apple Orchard (190 reviews)
    - Reliable Fall destination for young and old alike.
    Farms
    Edwards Apple Orchard image
PROS: delicious apple donuts and apple cider; numerous “taste stations” inside the barn. Ample parking, photo op by the windmill and the “year” sign; petting zoo, play area with tractor tire “dragon”, ship, train, 3 old tractors; pony and wagon rides; pick your own apples. CONS: parking lots fill up quickly and you may end up needing to cross the road to get to the barn; only takes cash (the Edwards Apple Orchard West in Winnebago takes credit.) Can get pretty expensive as the apple donuts (doz) and cider (1 gal.) are $8 before tax. People usually forget that there is an Edwards Apple Orchard West in Winnebago IL. They also sell the same donuts and cider plus have a smaller (albeit original 1800’s) barn, petting zoo, play area for kids and also ample parking. Plus they accept credit cards so it’s more convenient purchasing items. See more..

    - organic veggies and eggs at the gift shop

    Historic Wagner Farm image
As you would expect at working farm, the gift shop sells tomatoes (heirloom, cherry, hybrid, etc.). Check the fridge for green beans, radishes, peppers, zucchini, carrots, etc. Look for pumpkins in October. Eggs go on sale every Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.: small/medium are $7 a dozen; large/extra large are $8 a dozen. Don't miss the new farm-themed playground, highlighted by Grant Woods' quotation: "All the really good ideas I ever had came to me while I was milking a cow." - Visit with and feed a reindeer!
    Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Farms
    Hardy's Reindeer Ranch image
Reindeer Ranch is simply amazing! If you are a Christmas person, as I am, it is a real treat to see live reindeer. They are super cool animals - and it's a learning experience as well. You can 'kiss' a reindeer (feed them a graham cracker from your mouth to theirs) and pet some of them. Great photo op as well for sure! We went when we were in the Champaign area for a football game, but I highly recommend this for family time during the Christmas season. SO - you'll be glad you did. See more..

    Ropp Jersey Cheese Farm image
Me and my oldest son were looking for something to do while my youngest was at camp earlier this week. We found this place and really enjoyed the tour, samples of cheese, and the amazing deal they had going on cheese! I think it was 5 for $20 and the cheese is delicious. They were making cheese when we went so we got to watch the process. We were also able to pet the cows, calves, and goats. We tried feeding the cows, but they weren't interested. Its important to understand the animals have their own schedule as well as milking times and cheese making times. We had a great time and are planning on going back as a family today so my youngest can enjoy it also. See more..

I live about 5 miles away but never visited this place til now. I figured the weekends would be busy so I took my 4 year old daughter here after school. We got our tickets online and if you answer a survey, you get a few dollars off your admission. I’m glad I did that because a lot of attractions were closed like the giant slide, concession areas, and the game area. There was a good crowd also so I wish they would consider opening everything next year during weekdays. We still had fun with the train ride and the play areas. See more..
  28. 4.5 Richardson Adventure Farm (18 reviews)
    - Go early and take Richardson road!

    Richardson Adventure Farm image
Wow get there early. Plan to even arrive before 11am. We got there exactly at 11am on Sunday and there's already a line of cars and tons of people in the garden. Also, get there via Richardson road (so you turn right into the property) inside of via Wilmot road (where you have to turn left). Seems like everyone is coming from Wilmot road and as we left we saw the poor 1 lane road backed up for miles in both directions. Don't get hung up at the start of the fields where they have tulips available for picking. Walk further inwards and it's a bit less crowded. We had a great time and it was a beautiful day. Picking out the free tulips was really fun! Too bad wasn't hungry because there was a ton of food trucks! The staff was really courteous and competent at directing traffic. See more..

We enjoyed the wagon ride into the apple orchard where we picked several varieties of apples and learned about the farm. We took a lot of pictures at the many photo props, walked through a maze and went in the haunted house. We also watched a giant dragon devour whole pumpkins. As we left we shopped in the country store and bought a few items. Goebberts has plenaty of parking and lots of fun for the kids. See more..

    Keller's Farmstand image
I went to Keller's Farmstand in Oswego with the sole purpose of buying Apple Cider Donuts on a fine Saturday afternoon in October. I was surprised at how full the huge parking lot was with so many vehicles. I understood that the crowd was not only due to the fine day, but that the farmstand would be closing for the season in a week. I walked around the farmstand, and went into the farm store and was amazed at all the different specialty products available. There was quite a big line at the checkout counter. Pleasantly, they had a separate counter just outside the farm store just for donuts, where I made my purchase. The counter said the donuts were just made, and indeed they tasted fresh & warm. Apart from the edible goods, Keller's is a place where children can enjoy the farm with activities such as hayrides, corn mazes, petting goats, lawn games, pumpkin patch, tractor rides, etc. It is a fun place for families. They even showed me their 'fresh' meat in a freezer wrapped with white butcher paper. I am a shopper and thought ALL the prices were too high even topping WFM. Saw a sign for this place (and we were trying to go around a traffic situation). We almost were not sure we were going in the right direction, as after a few miles we ended up heading back toward the interstate. But it was the right path and we made a left at dead end and we there. It's a nice farm and you can see the cows in the field and you can visit the barn. The shop is not fancy, but there are free samples and the family were very friendly. There are diagrams and other items showing the cheese-making process. It will take you a bit out of your way, but it was worth it for us. Of course we went on our way with some cheese to snack on as we continued our journey. Kids would enjoy this stop. See more..

Had a great experience at my first Berryville Harvestfest. Wine samples, hayrides, music and food. Was able to purchase a strawberry wine slushee to start the afternoon then proceeded to the wine tasting to find my favorite. Found a great white wine to purchase then sat and listened to live music. Had lunch at one of the vendors. Perfect day to just sit and relax. Hope to go again next year. See more..
