4.0Lake Glendale Stables(39 reviews) - A whole afternoon of fun and relaxation! Saturday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
This was my second time back at Lake Glendale Stables, last time was back in 2014 and it was just as I remembered! Makayla was our friendly guide, she was great with the horses and gave excellent instructions for us along the trail. Neither my boyfriend or myself are experienced riders but we rode Dot and Easter, who were very gentle and easy to handle. Worth every penny! When we finished the hour long trail Makayla was sure to make us feel welcome to stick around. We said hello to all the hoses that were inside, and walked around watching all the happy horses in the field too. There is a private lake too - we spent all afternoon lounging around, paddling in the canoe, and even gave the zip line a whirl! It was a great day, we will definitely be back.See more..

4.0Pere Marquette Riding Stables(15 reviews) - Great Riding North of St. Louis Spent 1-2 hours Equestrian Trails • Horseback Riding Tours
I called on a Saturday morning and was able to make reservations for a 1pm ride. They said to be there at 12:45 (45 min early), which was no problem except I got lost trying to find it. Do not trust Apple iPhone maps to navigate you to “Pere Marquette Riding Stables”! It leads you up into the hills of the state park in the middle of nowhere. Trust the physical street address on the “Contact” section of their website. That said, our 1pm ride actually left at 12:30, which made no sense to me at all. Figured I’d still be 30 minutes early, but everybody was already saddled up and ready to go. The horses are great, the trails are beautiful…lots of shade and trees, hills, ravines, and little creeks that you cross. The front of our group saw deer but I was near the rear and missed them. I want to come back in the fall when the leaves change colors. Prices are steep for a 45 min ride, but if you’re military they offer midweek discounts.See more..
4.0Ridge Valley Riding Stables(12 reviews) - So much fun! Saturday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Horseback Riding Tours
Called later at night and they were so kind to call us back to book that night! Upon arrival we signed our waivers and they have all different size horses. OK up to around 250ish pounds if necessary. You can meet the horses in their stalls and they let you pick which one you want to ride if it is available. They have a 4-step block so it is easy to get on even the big horses. Our trail guide was fantastic and the path was varied and the trotting was wonderful. I absolutely cannot wait to go back. Very reasonably priced. An unexpected last minute blast. We were so happy.See more..
4.0Sarah's Pony Rides(10 reviews) - Fantastic break from the city Horseback Riding Tours
My wife and I decided to visit Sarah's Pony Rides for a Sunday morning horseback ride and had a great experience. I'm a big guy and have ridden for a few years in my past. They had a clydesdale for me to ride that was as sweet as could be. My wife hasn't ridden before, and she also got a horse that wasn't any trouble at all. We went for an hour trail ride in the forest that's connected to the property. The trail guides were very friendly. Overall it was a great experience and we're already talking about going back next weekend since it was so close.See more..
4.5White Pines Ranch(8 reviews) - "Trailriding in a Beautiful Setting" Spent 2-3 hours Ranches • Horseback Riding Tours
White Pines Ranch is primarily a "Dude Ranch for Kids". The camp offers Outdoor Education Programs involving Horseback Riding as well as the care of horses & Tack depending on the length of the Program. 45 minute Trail Rides can also be arranged and that's why I and fellow members of an Outdoor Women's group spending the weekend in the area did here. Safety is #1 at White Pines Ranch and before we ever got on our horse we were required to watch a video that covered the do's and don't about horseback riding. Riders are required to wear helmets and all rides are guided. The trail ride was relaxing & the guides happily took our photos with "our" horses. The minimum age to ride is 7. Younger kids can go on a 15 minute pony ride. Longer trail rides can also be arranged.See more..
