5.0The Haunted Galena Tour Company(672 reviews) - Best ghost tour I’ve taken in a long time Sunday: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM Ghost & Vampire Tours • Historical & Heritage Tours • Walking Tours
Our tour guy Ted was amazing. Part actor, part ghost enthusiast, he kept us completely entertained for over 90 minutes. I would highly recommend this if you were interested in learning about those stories in Galena and even having your own pure and normal experiences while you are with him.See more..
Start your boat tour at the Visitor Center where you purchase very reasonably priced tickets. Walk across the canal bridge and down some steps to the boat. You can also drive to the parking lot. First is short, entertaining and informative talk about mules and those who pull the canal boat. On board the boat, the narrator provides a history of the Illinois and Michigan Canal as you slowly glide a short distance on a restored section of the canal. The mule actually pulls the boat at maybe 2 miles/hour. The whole tour takes a bit over an hour. The canal was a very important link for transportation of goods between Lake Michigan and the Mississippi River from about 1850 to 1930. The whole tour is fun and informative. See more..
4.5Matthew's Haunted Pub Crawl(135 reviews) - Great history and lore! Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bar, Club & Pub Tours • Ghost & Vampire Tours • Historical & Heritage Tours • Walking Tours
Such a fun, informative and spooky evening! ‘Matthew’ was awesome in every way. The history and lore presented was fascinating, and since he’s been a lifelong Galena resident lended to the credibility. I was able to use the dowsing rods with his guidance and it was a most awesome experience. The drinks were really good too! Thank you for a fun time!See more..
4.5Kankakee Railroad Museum(37 reviews) - Awesome compact museum of rail history Sunday: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM Speciality Museums • Historical & Heritage Tours
As the song says " the train pulls out of Kankakee......the Spirit of New Orleans ". Amtrak still runs 6 trains thru here daily. The museum is packed with incredible information, well kept, and has a wonderful volunteer staff. Definitely worth a visit, even for non-train buffs.See more..
