Best of the Best!
I am a travel agent and have previously sailed 5 river cruises in Europe (Viking, Tauck, AMA Waterways). Amadeus came recommended to me by another travel agent (a river cruise specialist with 40 sailings on numerous cruise lines) who informed me once she experienced Amadeus River Cruise ship she never looked back. Now I know what she meant by those words. We sailed Amadeus "Silver III" and it was AMAZING! From our large cabins with a walk in closet, great shower, wonderful staff and food, my group of 25 was blown away at our incredible Danube River cruise adventure! Alina, our cruise director was beyond amazing, as was the entire stafff. Excellent entertainment too. Since we were a group of American's Amadeus handled our COVID testing for us to return to the USA - so easy to have the testing onboard, and best of all everyone returned home healthy! Thank you Amadeus for giving my group a wonderful Danube River cruise experience and we are already talking Amadeus for 2023!

Not what we expected
As Amadeus is an Austrian Company, we were not surprised that the majority of travelers were German. What was surprising was the long and constant announcements in that language. The trips out on this cruise are very expensive, for example €50 for a coach trip to the Ardeche Gorge. We had booked the trip to the Camarge, but as we waited for the coach we’re told that the coach was not big enough and we would not be able to attend. We later learned that our and other English names had been removed from the booking list to accommodate German late bookers who kicked up a fuss. The price of trips is over the top. That said the food,service and staff are fantastic. The interior of the boat is spotless as are the cabins. Sadly the exterior leaves something to be desired.. none of the exterior glass was cleaned during our cruise a the fore and aft decks were covered in literally hundreds of dead insects which were never swept up or hosed away. Not what one would expect on a river cruise ship. I should mention that in a week there were three lengthy introductions of the crew and staff. This was done English and German and took about three quarters of an hour each time. Totally unnecessary. This was our fourth river cruise sadly would not use Amadeus again.
