What a great experience!

Don't miss this. Our driver/guide was fun and a great driver. I'm glad we got to the other side of the river to get a closer look at locks, but the entire experience was great.

    Bustling
We were not staying here but enjoyed eating outside on their ample deck 3 times over the weekend because we were hiking in the park. They were busy but the service was consistently good as was the food. The outdoor menu is different than the dining room menu and more limited but still offered good options. We had plenty of shade due to leafy trees and the view must be spectacular in the spring and fall when the foliage is not to thick. We also moved inside to the bar one evening and listened to a duo playing songs from the 70s. The bathrooms were clean and altho the outside needs a fresh coat of paint it was a comfortable and well run operation as far as the dining and lobby. I'd love to see the hotel rooms but it was booked up early so we stayed off site.

    Beautiful area
The trolley tour was the way to see the area. This tour took us to a canyon area where a guide gave us information overload. There are many canyons in the area and hiking trails. This one was a short one, but beautiful. Not recommended for handicap. We then went to the boat dock for a pontoon ride up/down the Illinois river. Our group was the first to stop and get off at a canyon for another very short hike. Beautiful area. The guide on the boat was very informative as well.
