Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park, Illinois, United States

Camping with a club rally

Camped here last weekend with a group. Nice level, wooded sites. Only drawback is that there is only electrical hookups. No water or sewer, but the dump station was easy to get in and out of when we left. We experienced a lot of bugs, but that was due to recent rains. Others who camp there regularly said that is unusual. There are nice fire pits with a cooking grill on them. Restaurants and gas stations within a few miles if needed. Nice place to bike.

    Looked closed
I arrived in the area late due to Chicago traffic slowing me down. I was staying at a nearby motel. Was hoping to get some photos of the lake and Wayne Fitzgerrell park before it got dark. There were tons of deer in the fields. I have never seen so many deer. I love deer, but too many of them is not a good thing. I headed to the lake first. No one was there. The resort and restaurant look closed. I was the only person there which was pretty creepy. Heard some weird birds. I don't know if everything was shut down due to Covid or closed for good. Maybe I was just in the wrong area.
