Beautiful on a Sunny Day

In Charleston...it's the Pineapple Fountain, but when in Savannah it is the Forsyth Fountain, the signature piece in the huge Forsyth Park. It was a beautiful, sunny, mid 70's day in March when we wandered this park for the first time. So many places to sit, relax, and enjoy nature. Unfortunately, about a week before we arrived there was a 27 degree killing frost which did affect the Azaleas...which are everywhere in the park (and in Savannah in general). The unopened buds were not affected, so we did see some beautiful flowers of many different colors. There are many Live Oaks with hanging moss-that are clearly very old, and have experienced a lot in their lives. It was our pleasure to experience this beautiful park on a gorgeous day!!

beautiful park, interesting farmers market, public restrooms
We visited Forsyth Park on a Saturday morning in November, and walked through an interesting and diverse farmer's market. The trees and fountain are beautiful, probably at all times of year. People wee enjoying outdoor dining at the park restaurant, which also had public restrooms. A nice place to stop for sure.

    Fun
we then drove over to Forsyth park. We had plans to eat at Collins quarter but it was too crowded, which is why we ate at Fox and Fig plate-based cafe that’s nearby. The white fountain is pretty cool and iconic spot of Savannah. Apparently this fountain is installed in 1858 and modeled after the fountains at the Place de la Concorde in Paris. My toddler had a lot of fun playing in the two playgrounds. There was a farmers market going on and we walked through that sampling many items. We drove by the Mansion on Forsyth.
