We booked seats on the Dearing Pullman (original car, circa early 1900s) for the Plains Express trip. Way cool, with a seating area, 3 sleeping compartments, 2 bathrooms, a dining room that seats 8, and a large galley kitchen. Our hosts were gracious, entertaining, and chock full of history and railroad knowledge. We caught the train at the Georgia Veterans Park. From there we traveled through beautiful countryside to Plains, and even got to sit outside on the "porch." Two-hours "tourist" time in Plains was more than sufficient to see the sights. I highly recommend you try the peanut butter ice cream. Yummy! See more..
