The Summer season is almost gone, however there are many events that you must see before we get into the Fall season. My family attended an event called “Doc Holiday Festival” in a small town called Griffin, Ga., South of Atlanta, Ga. I’m talking about the famous Dentist called Doc Holiday featured in the many Western movies from Tucson, Arizona, The Gunfight at OK Corral. The Festival is an annual event here in Griffin, Ga to honor one of Griffins residents since he had his practice in town before moving west, and his body in the towns Cemetery in Griffin, Ga. The festival brings many vendors together. There is delicious food, kids’ entertainment, and Western life history. There is also an ongoing BBQ Cookout Competition during the festival for a prize of $10,000. Participants come from all over the State of Georgia. The main attraction is the reenactment of the Gun fight in which Doc Holiday was involved. Friendly people together for the whole family. This festival brings an exited environment where you can eat, listen to music, purchase items, take your favorite photos with the enactment participants, relax on a September sunny day, and learn on western history. During the evening there is a live musical concert as well. There is also a tour of the City of Griffin, where you can see Doc Holidays Old Dentist Practice in one of the City buildings. I give this festival a 5 Star, and a Must See, and worth to travel to Griffin, Ga. If you are in the area in the future stop by Griffin, Ga. Plan to attend next year’s Doc Holiday Festival in Griffin, Ga. See more..
