My wife and I visited the Mount Tarrengower Lookout after being highly recommended to us by friends who have a business in Castlemaine. It is free to enter and you can climb the steps three quarters of the way up to see the stunning 360 degree views of the Maldon township and surrounding country areas. The top quarter of the tower is unavailable to the public (locked). The top of the tower is for exclusive use of professional fire spotters. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Maldon. See more..

There are a few reasons to stop here to look around. Firstly and foremost, this is a great place to get views of Bendigo City and all you have to do is walk through Rosalind Park to get there... OR alternatively you can drive past the Queen Elizabeth Oval and park nearby. The joys of this are twofold... you will of course get great views, but the second one is for those daredevils that love heights... this should thrill you!! :) Installed at this site in 1931, the poppet head was originally used at the Garden Gully United mine. And of course the other reason to stop here is the mosaic - which is a stylised representation of the central area of the main Bendigo Goldfield based on a geological plan. There are information signs at this site to explain all the intricacies. It costs nothing and it's worth stopping. See more..

It was late afternoon when we arrived here...but instantly we were both captivated by this place... it's along a road that isn't marked like others along the road. The road is a little rough, but you don't go down it far. It's also not as commercialised as other stops... one might even call the stop a little rough. Rough? Interesting phrase. By definition rough is - in a manner that lacks gentleness; harshly or violently. Is nature intended to be gentle ... is it meant to be defined easily? I think not. This place completely captivated me. It's understated introduction by no means gave me an indication of how it was going to feel to stand on the cliff with the wind blowing through my hair and to see what I can only state is majestic. I would have to say this is one of the stops that made me catch my breath... incited my imagination and ... dare I say, led me to romantic notions. Completely stunning... completely captivating... it was one of my favourite stops and I had a few by then. What are the lyrics of Norah Jones song? Come away with me and we'll kiss On a mountaintop Come away with me And I'll never stop loving you This is where you should kiss on that mountaintop and fall in love. See more..
