My father, brother and I visited The Maldon Lolly Shop while exploring Maldon as part of our Victorian Goldfields Railway train trip. In a weird sort of way, it reminds me of the lolly store at Sovereign Hill. Like Sovereign Hill, it sells a wide range of boiled sweets, which I believe were made locally. Unlike Sovereign Hill, it also sells other things, too; sweets from my childhood such as choo-choo bars, gobstoppers, sherbet bombs, etc that I haven’t seen or eaten in years. What an interesting place. We were welcomed warmly, which made up for the cold weather. We couldn’t taste the honeys, due to Covid-19 restrictions, but we tasted the mead. We walked away with 3 bottles of mead and 3 jars of honey, for less than $100.
