Maldon Folk Festival is always held the WE before Melbourne Cup over 4 days. Maldon is a small historic town, dating back to the gold rush days. Half the fun of the WE is to wander around the village and stumble across another heritage shop or home. The festival has all sorts of music - folk obviously, but also country, blues, bluegrass, a bit of comedy and even jazz. The music happens around the town, in pubs, cafes, bars, halls and even a church. Accommodation can be tight as it is only a small town and we had to book a place in Castlemaine. They have lots of music workshops and even a children's tent with lots of activities for the ankle biters. See more..
