My second trip with the GV team and another excellent experience. This time we did the drift boating. A five hour float down the Goulburn River while the guide expertly maneuvered (via oars) the boat to all the best water. We saw dozens of trout and caught eighteen. Including a huge rainbow. See photo. We also saw platypus up close from the boat. This was a terrific experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves fly fishing. It’s so comfortable to fish while sitting and to be able to ditch the waders and just wear sandals. Thank you Lachy and Anthony for the great day out. We will be back in the autumn. See more..

My wife and I paddled Yarran Creek to the Murray River during flooding with Greg as our guide. This is a once in a life-time experience, that you have to work at to time. But Greg and Shannon will work with you. We navigated our way through the flooded forest, sometimes through lime-green duckweed that swirled as we went through. The water is almost black with tannins, makings the reflections of the sky and trees incredible. And Greg is great. He's a wealth of knowledge of both flora and fauna, with over 20 years working in forestry. But if you're not interested in that, he's happy just paddling along at your rate. My husband is a keen fisherman but had never tried fly fishing. I booked a half day experience with River Escapes for his birthday. I went along too as an observer. Alex was our guide and was an extremely patient and skilful teacher plus he was an all round nice guy to spend the day with. The whole experience was fun, plus my husband caught a rainbow trout.
