  2. 4.5 Eastern Beach Reserve (1.063 reviews)
    - Perfect beach for families
    Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Beaches
    Eastern Beach Reserve image
Have been coming here since I was a teenager and always enjoy my visits. Very still water with a fenced-in swimming area and a kids' pool, as well as areas of open water. There's a playground and ferris wheel nearby, as well as a carousel further down the beach. Older kids may want to jump off the pier and pontoons in the fenced-in area, and there is a boardwalk that circles the swimming area you can walk on. Parking can be a bit of a hassle during summer months, but keep in mind if you want to use public transport it's a 15 minute walk to the reserve from the nearest bus stop. Plenty of public toilets around as well. The kiosk can get expensive if you're buying for a family, so I recommend you bring your own food and drink. There isn't a lot of shade either, so definitely lather on that sunscreen and bring shelter if you're planning to stay for a while. See more..
  3. 4.0 Brighton Beach (880 reviews)
    - Iconic Beach
    Spent 2-3 hours Beaches
    Brighton Beach image
Love this beach with it's Iconic Beach Huts, which have huge price tags, one selling in 2016 for $285,000, saying that the beautiful artwork on some of the huts is fabulous. The beach is pristine and I loved the shallow rock pools left by the out going tide which are great to explore. If you fancy a swim there are life guards in attendance,or just kick back you heel and enjoy the sun. See more..

My wife and I drove here recently during our annual holiday in Mornington Peninsula. We arrived at 8:30 am on a Monday morning when there were very few people around, which is excellent for social distancing. Also had plenty of car parking spots available. We were staying at a Resort in Fingal for two nights, which is around 20 minutes drive from here. We have been here before a few years ago, but did not walk up to Coppin's Lookout, which we did during this visit. The views from that lookout are very scenic. We also walked to Sphinx Rock and the beach where that Rock is located. See more..
  11. 4.5 Lakes Entrance Beach (143 reviews)
    - Memories echo
    Beaches
    Lakes Entrance Beach image
"There's a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same" - these are more than just lyrics to a song.. as teenagers my friends and I would head across Cunninghame Arm Bridge in Summer with anticipation tingling as the sun hit the water and there were water bikes cruising the area. At the end of the bridge... you go past the surf club and walk the path through the dunes to the beach. The beach was stunning when I visited recently ... and memories slipped through my mind of beach parties and meeting strangers who became friends. Of times where I was so sunburned that I paid dearly for days. ( Learn from my mistake, wear a hat and use sunscreen :) ) So if this beach can have such a hold on a person after over 30 years... then it's a place you want to visit. It's a great place to start wonderful memories. See more..

I've been coming to Phillip Island for 20 years. This beach has always been a great beach to walk the dog along early in the morning for the sunrise or swim in in the summer. Nice spots to grab some fish and chips or a coffee and sit on the grass and watch the beach. Definitely a nice beach after travelling around the world and seeing some nice beaches in my time. It is safe to swim and the jetty is lovely to walk down. See more..
  15. 4.5 Point Lonsdale Beach (75 reviews)
    - Walking from Queenscliff to Point Lonsdale Beach - must do!
    Beaches
    Point Lonsdale Beach image
If you're visiting Queenscliff be sure to include a fabulous beach walk to Point Lonsdale. It's an easy flat walk of around 6km with gorgeous views out to sea all the way. At the end you can have a swim at the Point Lonsdale beach, visit the lighthouse or visit the Noble Rot bar. An energetic end to our day on the Bellarine Peninsula followed which we finished with drinks at Noble Rot. One member of the team will need to be the driver rather than the walker though so you have the car waiting for you at Point Lonsdale. See more..

  19. 4.5 Torquay Front Beach (54 reviews)
    - "Beautiful busy beach on a Sunny Day"
    Beaches
    Torquay Front Beach image
The weather was 24 degrees and quite warm so the beach was very busy. Well patrolled, with lots of tiered lawn seating. There is a walkway right along the beach. The beach is very popular with families and surfers and on this day the view looked amazing. A little bit hard to find a park but we were lucky. We walked the trail up to Rocky Point to the lookout for fantastic views. The walk is very easy and there are steps accessible down to the beach. Stop and enjoy the views as we did. See more..

  21. 4.5 Mount Martha Beach (53 reviews)
    - One of the best in Victoria!
    Spent 1-2 hours Beaches
    Mount Martha Beach image
One of the best, if not the best beach in Victoria (in our opinion). Shallow waters, white sand, crystal clear water (if not recent rains), nearby red hill and mornington, framed by beach boxes. What more do you want! However, it can get very busy on the summer and weekend days so get there early to avoid long cues into the town. See more..

    Fisherman's Beach image
Although I had visited Torquay a number of times I had not visited Fisherman's Beach. It was a beach with a broad expanse of sand and gently sloping entrance to the water. There were many people walking the beach and it seemed popular. Overall, a nice enough beach but not special. See more..
  24. 4.5 Johanna Beach (46 reviews)
    - Wilderness Beach
    Beaches
    Johanna Beach image
Every few years the Bells Beach Easter Classic (surf comp) is moved to Johanna because a decent, competitive swell has failed to eventuate at Bells. Curious to see “plan B” I was suitably impressed to observe the powerful waves found at Johanna. I didn’t surf but enjoyed the beauty of walking this rugged, isolated beach. Amazing happy cattle in green pastures add to the scene while driving down to the car park. See more..

    Point Roadknight image
My wife and I visited this place for a long walk along the beach, during our recent holiday in Torquay where we stayed for two nights. In all our previous trips along the Great Ocean Road (eight trips over the years), we had never visited this place before, as our focus was on the main highlights along various parts of the Great Ocean Road. We are very glad we decided to visit Point Roadknight. It is very scenic and secluded with many unique rock formations. We will visit again sometime in the future. See more..
  29. 4.5 Wreck Beach (23 reviews)
    - Over 300 stairs but amazing
    Spent 1-2 hours Beaches
    Wreck Beach image
Ok so first of all check when the tide is coming in. Second if you have a significant mobility issue or have bad knees or hips this probably isn’t suitable for you. However if you make sure it’s low tide and you are able to climb and descend over 300 stairs then this is worth it. It’s beautiful and so peaceful. I loved it here. Could have stayed for much longer. Definitely just take your time here if the tide isn’t coming in. But be careful it can be very slippery and dangerous on the rocks. See more..
  30. 4.5 Portarlington Beach (21 reviews)

    Cape Paterson Bay Beach image
This quiet little beach is a perfect mix of safe swimming, rocks to scramble on, fly a kite, skim a ball, fish, paddle board or snorkel. A bay beach that is patrolled by the SLC during peak times is the perfect destination. Only 90 mins from Melbourne and not well known this place is magic. 34. 4.5 Pea Soup Beach (13 reviews)
    - Pea Soup Beach great for children
    Beaches
    Pea Soup Beach image
Pea Soup beach was recommended when we stayed at Port Fairy with a young family. I would say it is ideally suited for children who are not strong swimmers as it is well protected, not deep and from what I observed no rips. That said you still get burnt as my feet did because I forgot to lather them up with sun screen. It is however a small beach with rocks to the far right where the children can look around for sea life. As always even though it seems safe never take your eyes off the children. See more..
  35. 4.5 Woolamai Beach (12 reviews)

  36. 4.0 Estuary Beach (11 reviews)
    - Where the river meets the ocean...
    Spent 1-2 hours Beaches
    Estuary Beach image
This has got to be one of the most unique beaches I've been to! The Estuary Beach in Nelson as the name suggests is the meeting place for the Glenelg river and the Southern ocean. On one end of the beach, the slow moving and meandering river is noticeable whilst on the other the ocean with its roaring waves! This makes for quite a sight if imagined! The beach also features a giant oxbow lake. The sort of shells I found here were quite different from the other beaches around the Great Ocean Road and the Melburnian bay. This beach would provide as an excellent example for those studying the journey of a river from its source to the ocean. I would highly recommend anyone visiting the area to drop by and have a look at this unique beach. See more..
  37. 4.5 Somers Beach (10 reviews)
    - Stroll or swim - beautiful either way
    Beaches
    Somers Beach image

    Worm Bay image
After visiting the Bay of Martyrs, where we had parked our car, my wife and I walked here. It is around 100 meters each way. We walked down the staircase and onto the beach to enjoy the scenery and the exercise. At the time of our visit, there was no one else around. We had the whole place to ourselves. It was a fantastic time to visit The Great Ocean Road while there were no foreign tourists and very few (if any) tourists from interstate, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Worm Bay is a very scenic place to visit. See more..
  41. 4.0 Killarney Beach (10 reviews)

    Killarney Beach image
A lovely quiet spot to camp only 6 minutes from Port Fairy. Very affordable, good toilet facilities. 1 minute from the beach, go to sleep listening to the waves. Beach is fantastic for kids, minimal waves and water is slightly warmer than the sea due to being trapped in a lagoon not more than a couple of metres deep. Great walk along the beach into Port Fairy if you have a fine morning. Loads of seabirds. See more..

    - Amazing Rock Pools
    Beaches
    Kitty Miller Bay image
I visited this location as a child and a teen and it was an amazing gift to do the same for my family. It is a place where under every rock there is some form of sea life and the kids really enjoyed it. If your a keen fisherman there are a few hidden gems that you can get to at low tide but caution is needed as the tide covers the rocks quickly when it turns. If your are learning to snorkle, there are calm places to explore and easily accessible by foot. It may not be the prettiest beach to sun bake at, but the experiences certainly make up for that.
