We made a spontaneous decision to visit Glenrowan on the way to Albury. I did particularly like the sites that were marked out showing where Ned Kelly sheltered in a copse of trees (means group of trees so I added a new word to my vocabulary) and then went on to be captured. Being able to walk between the sites really gave it another dimension. This may have been helped by the fact that there must’ve been some form of shooting range nearby so we could hear gunshots ringing out in the distance. Not that I like guns. It is definitely worth stopping in Glenrowan just to visit the marked sites.See more..
5.0George Bass Coastal Walk(71 reviews) - Unbeatable ocean and headland views Scenic Walking Areas
This has to be one of Australia's great coastal walks - a relatively easy 16 kms return from Kilcunda to Punchbowl that provides views of beautiful beaches, rocky headlands and unique rock structures. It can be very windy in this area, so be prepared. We did it on a 23 degrees spring day, but I imagine it may be too cold in winter unless you're rugged up. Even on the fine day we did the walk, it was still cold because of the southerly wind chill. There are some steep parts and some beach walking, but anyone with a reasonable level of fitness should be OK. I would thoroughly recommend this walk ... it is just so spectacular and varied.See more..

4.0Port Campbell Scenic Lookout(29 reviews) - Your social media photo Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts • Scenic Walking Areas
Coming from Warrnambool direction towards Port Campbell you will notice a sign to your right before you head down into town and that is where this lookout is. There is a path that you can also follow into town from here... if you feel inclined to walk the steps. The views of the town and jetty are quite good here. It's a lovely place to go for a short walk before heading into the town. Although if you have mobility issues you will not head down the path too far before you encounter steps... nevertheless, part of it is achievable if you want to stretch your legs for a wee bit. This is where you take a photo to share with your friends on social media just to remind them of how hard you are doing it while on vacation. :)See more..

My wife and I visited Daylesford recently to attend an event called "Borealis on The Lake" and to have a holiday staying for two nights. 4.5Castle Cove(16 reviews) - Sunrise views Scenic Walking Areas
Dawned a very very hot day so not able to hike. Thought we'd have a cuppa at Castle Cove lookout instead and watch the sun rise over the beach. Parking easy and used our phones to find the path in the dark. Lookout is really well done, nicely built. Was very entertaining - lots of surfers turned up to check the waves and we watched many of them riding the not insubstantial waves. Looked pretty good from up at the lookout. Oh, and the sunrise was real nice as well. Got some great pics.See more..

Great place for a walk and fresh air. The loop around the reservoir didn't take long, 15 mins. There were other paths that led off into the forest, one took us to a second car park. Loop around reservoir plus walk to second car park and back was 40 mins. The path was nice and dry even after heavy rainfall and storms. Electric BBQ's, tables and toilets on site. Just stand and listen to the waves as they crash into this cave and you hear the thunderous Ac/Dc sound thunderstruck! You can stay here for hours watching the waves and listening and I certainly love this area. A real highlight. 4.0Mount Stanley Look Out(7 reviews) - 360 degree views Spent < 1 hour Lookouts • Scenic Walking Areas
We visited on a clear cold day. We could see as far as the snow capped peaks of Kosciusko in NSW and the snow capped peaks of Mt Feathertop, Bogong, Hotham and the rocky crag of Mt Buffalo as well as views way past the Glenrowan Gap and to the distant horizon in all directions. The turn off Mt Stanley Road is easy to miss. it goes off to the right just 1km after you leave the bitumen. the road could be impassable in wet conditions as it is mostly clay based, but the road is easily accessible in an ordinary sedan. The reward ifs the view. and the silence. on the day we were there, there was one other couple and a wedge-tailed eagle soaring above. wonderful. Most travellers are unaware of the lookout existence. Well worth a side trip.See more..

While staying in the area had a walk around this pleasant neat park. There is a kids garden with good playground that includes a flying fox. Good pathways with seating, in one area there is a set of very impressive bulky timber seating. Toilet facilities are good. They have a vegy garden there in big planter boxes all recently planted. Some lovely trees in their Autumn colours. There are also a couple of good plaques to view, honouring a couple of gentlemen who were involved with the local council for many years, well worth reading them . Well worth spending some time here.See more..

We saw the brochure for the Wombat Trail last time we visited Trentham and decided to walk it today . The walk starts at Quarry St. Reserve and is well signed all the way (9kms). The track is mainly flat with some undulating sections. You walk beside creekbeds and through lovely stands of gumtrees. Today there were banksias out in flower. 5.0Oak Forest(4 reviews) - Wooed by it's soft caresses Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests • Scenic Walking Areas
You drive through into La Larr Ba Gauwa Park where you will immediately notice heaps of cars with bike racks... the area is at the base of Mt Alexander. When you arrive you will follow the dirt road pas the entrance area with signs and continue on... the road here is dreadful, you will need to slow. Whilst a four wheel drive would be recommended ... a two wheel drive could do this with care. The road will bring you to a sign to indicate you are at the Oak Forest, if you drive past that you will enter a camping area. Here you will find a park and then be able to walk through the forest. It is stunningly beautiful and at this time of year I could hear the crunch of the leaves that fell in Autumn as they carpet the paths you walk on. It's very still so you can lose yourself here. It's a really lovely place to go walking.See more..

3.0Mooramong Homestead(2 reviews) - Great place to visit. Historic Sites • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Scenic Walking Areas
The entrance off the highway to Mooramong is not easy to see so be ready to turn. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit both walking around the colorful gardens and enjoying looking inside the home which contained many interesting photos and artifacts. Perhaps a shame that this homestead had been changed to an art decor homes interior was changed to art decor but maybe this is an advantage. Was not able to view the kitchen which is always interesting.See more..
4.5Creswick Heritage walk(2 reviews) - plenty to see on the main street Spent 2-3 hours Historic Sites • Scenic Walking Areas
My walking capacity is not what it once was, but I came here on the #30 bus from Ballarat (Myki enabled) for a two hour wander around. I concentrated on the cafes and old buildings of the main street. My friend was less interested in the life of the Lindsays, but we both enjoyed the look around. Apart from the old pubs, there was the Town Hall (now museum), Victoria Institute, Mines building, rotunda, and old Post Office.See more..

It was late afternoon when we arrived here...but instantly we were both captivated by this place... it's along a road that isn't marked like others along the road. The road is a little rough, but you don't go down it far. It's also not as commercialised as other stops... one might even call the stop a little rough. Rough? Interesting phrase. By definition rough is - in a manner that lacks gentleness; harshly or violently. Is nature intended to be gentle ... is it meant to be defined easily? I think not. This place completely captivated me. It's understated introduction by no means gave me an indication of how it was going to feel to stand on the cliff with the wind blowing through my hair and to see what I can only state is majestic. I would have to say this is one of the stops that made me catch my breath... incited my imagination and ... dare I say, led me to romantic notions. Completely stunning... completely captivating... it was one of my favourite stops and I had a few by then. What are the lyrics of Norah Jones song? Come away with me and we'll kiss On a mountaintop Come away with me And I'll never stop loving you This is where you should kiss on that mountaintop and fall in love.See more..

4.0Lake Elizabeth(1 review) - Great hiking and biking tracks for the novice as well as advanced hikers Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Walking Areas

4.0Moorabool Falls(1 review) - Lovely bush walk Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts • Scenic Walking Areas A 5 km return walk connects Lal Lal Falls and Moorabool Falls. 4.0Fitzroy River Walk(1 review) - A bridge built in the 1840’s across the Fitzroy River is believed to be Victoria’s first bridge Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Walking Areas
The Heywood Fitzroy River Walks are located within the Heywood CBD. Parking is available along most of the streets, with additional parking located at the Sibley Memorial Rose Garden and Apex Park. Disabled parking can be found in front of the Glenelg Shire Council Offices and in Edgar Street in front of the Community Hall. Toilets are located in Scott and Cameron Streets and inside the Glenelg Shire Council Offices. We drove into Heywood and immediately parked next to the Fitzroy Bridge where there is a garden memorial and a statue. I am still unsure what the statue is. Nevertheless you can follow the path and stretch your legs here. The paths are in reasonable condition although wheelchairs might need some assistance on the gravel paths. It is a particularly pretty place to get out to stretch your legs.See more..
