We rode from Lake Lorne at Drysdale to Queenscliff on this trip. Drysdale is a small regional town with many food outlets. (Check out Restaurants in Drysdale.) The path is a mix of Lilydale topping in sections and sealed/asphalt in others. There is one small section of loose gravel. There is not much elevation/incline to speak of. There a handful of road crossings but no major highway crossings in this section. The views are mainly farmland although you ride along and through housing near Queenscliff. An easy ride to and from. 5. 4.0 Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail (30 reviews)
    - Great trail but watch out for the cars after Levy’s point
    Biking Trails
Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail image
The rail trail is a great, mostly flat ride and mostly safe. Is a bit steep going up the hill to Koroit from Warnambool and can be windy here as well. Fast moving cars on the narrow track between Kelly’s swamp and Levy point are a safety hazard for pedestrians and cyclists. There is a 20km/h speed limit here but a lot of cars are going faster. If you haven’t enjoyed the experience of a steam locomotive or as the Indians in America called them “The Iron Horse”’ then don’t let this opportunity pass you by if and when you are In Maldon. Turn back the clock and listen to the chugging of the train and that whistle blowing. Relax and enjoy the views. We all enjoyed the experience and look forward to doing all again. See more..

    - A great outing

    Ballarat-Skipton Rail Trail image
We rode the return 32 km trip from Ballarat to Smythesdale as a family. The gravel trail is very well signed and maintained. Lots of benches/huts to stop for a breather. The person on the road bike in the group struggled a little because of their thinner tyres. Those of us with mountain bikes enjoyed the ride. Some slight inclines, but nothing to put the youngest member off. We stopped for lunch at the Courthouse Hotel in Smythesdale which was a lovely break. Very few people walking/biking along the track. Everyone we did see was very friendly. Lots of farm animals and wildlife to see along the way. Highly recommend the ride. The distance may be a little long for younger kids. But overall a great days adventure See more..
  9. 5.0 Mount Beauty Bike Tracks (15 reviews)
    - A great bike riders destination
    Biking Trails
The Mt Beauty bike trails... At the top end of the town is the national downhill mountain bike course which has trails to test anyone. And with the access trails it means that even those of us who dont want to rush to the bottom of the hill at top speed can have a great afternoon out. For those who may just want a pleasant, quiet ride in the sun there is plenty of option too, like the sealed bike path that goes all the way around Mt Beauty's lake and links up with shady bike trails through the forest and along the ridges. Mt Beauty, a terrific bike rdiers destination. See more..

Great place for a walk and fresh air. The loop around the reservoir didn't take long, 15 mins. There were other paths that led off into the forest, one took us to a second car park. Loop around reservoir plus walk to second car park and back was 40 mins. The path was nice and dry even after heavy rainfall and storms. Electric BBQ's, tables and toilets on site. No under cover shelter. Spotted two Koala's not too far from the carpark. See more..

    - Meet Rusty and Shag
Open now - 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Biking Trails • Parks
    Rotary and Historic Park image
This is not a park in the traditional sense... it is a green expanse of lawn perfect for picnicking. There is a picnic table here, but really for the large area it covers... there could be more tables added.

The area is aside the lake and that makes it's aspect stunning. There are some points of interest... here you will meet Rusty and Shag. You can also look at some old machinery in a caged area. So there are a few points of interest. But really it's winning feature is the view.

It is a stunning part of the town.

    Labertouche South Hells Gate image
Awesome day out, arrived around 9:30am.. from the Last Track creek maintain gate... The hike is varied, takes you through all types of bush Great area to hike in guys... Most of the trail is fire track and 4 wheel drive (up to the peak). The walk takes you through, everything from dry gum trees and low bushland to Green misty ferns and deep ravines. And the same for the track. Starts wide, take you through single file, dense trails, then on to fire tracks leading into an awesome climb and descent through 4 wheel drive terrain. Plenty of birds around and a small Roo jumped out onto the track at one point about an hour in... he looked like he was trying to get home as we were both caught in a downpour and he seems to be in a hurry, however, still managing a quick look at me... as if to say... You too!! The butterflies seem to follow you all day as well.. and there's plenty of Wombat holes... Definitely, a trek that requires hiking boots, the steep sections both up and down need the stability.. and if you have a set of walking poles take them with you.. Definitely add this one to the list!!!! See more..
