We had a fantastic time on our Sunset Paddle exploring the beauty of the Chippewa and Mississippi Rivers with our expert, fun and friendly guides, Taylor and Isabelle. This trip was awesome! Minnesota Whitewater is a small family-owned and operated company and our whole experience was great from start to finish. The owner and river guides were so friendly, safety-oriented, and knowledgeable. For $48/person, it was dirt cheap for the amount of fun we had, and well worth every cent. Our group of four did the Lower St. Louis (river levels are lower this summer) over 2 hours and it was some serious whitewater fun. Giant swells, big drops, tons of rapids, and a great break for some swimming and relaxing on a calm stretch of river! I would recommend this trip for anyone looking for a scenic, action-packed whitewater adventure.See more..

We loved our houseboat trip with voyagaire houseboats! Their service was excellent, with the ability for daily deliveries, fun morning stories about the area, weather and trivia with other houseboats. We had two young kids and four adults on the larger two bedroom with hot tub, the second “penthouse” bedroom is very small with a ladder up. It was worth it to stay the night before with free breakfast to get early access to head out on the houseboat otherwise check in is later afternoon and many spots to dock for the night could be taken. You also have to be back in early at 9am your last day so consider that when thinking of number of days to book. A few tips - we loved the sites at browns bay, deep slough and sandpoint island. There were wild blueberries at numerous places. Bring a battery powered fan - you have to turn off the generator and AC at night, bring bug candles or coils, floaties and tubes for swimming. It was a great trip especially during these times!See more..
We went out fishing, our captain put us right on the fish. After a great day of fishing, we cooled off and our captain picked us up again where we brought our fresh catch to a restaurant for dinner, ending in a nice sunset cruise to end our day. Will be back!See more..
We highly recommend Ebel's Houseboats when visiting Voyageurs National Park! This was our first-time renting a houseboat so we printed Ebel’s emails to use as our check list of items to bring (we would not have thought of all the items), action items like purchasing park houseboat permit, and reading their policies. Before our trip, Ebel's helped with our questions via phone calls / emails, and sent reminder follow up emails to confirm action items before our trip. The houseboat was thoroughly cleaned before we arrived, they carried our things on and off the boat, and provided helpful information by traveling with us to our first night camping spot. When we had questions or needed assistance with the houseboat they were only a radio call away. Everyone at Ebel's was extremely helpful.See more..
Had rented a 10 passenger Pontoon for my granddaughters 10th birthday and she was elated with the whole experience. Captain Shawn’s website is very user friendly and we easily booked our trip. We were greeted with a very personable guy and very helpful and instructive about how to get around, things to see and how to drive the boat. The boat was very clean, roomy, and comfortable. Had the BEST time ice fishing with Brady and Baxstar fishing. I cannot recommend him enough! We did a guided ice fishing tour. It was incredible. Brady had everything set up and ready for us so when we arrived we could get straight to the fun. He had top notch equipment and allowed us to fish using multi types of poles, lures, and bait - in multiple locations on the lake! We had never been ice fishing so he was great about explaining how everything worked, gave us tips and tricks, taught us about equipment, and was able to answer our questions - all while being very patient. Not only is Brady a great guide (experienced, professional, knowledgeable, etc.), he’s also a great person. He was very friendly and we enjoyed spending the day with him. Communication was easy, prompt, and clear. We knew what to expect, what to bring, where to be, etc. He covered everything with us and made us feel at ease and excited. We had an epic time!! The staff at Metro Lakes Marina are always so friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help with our needs. Our experience with Dan the owner has been very positive also. This is the only place we get gas on the lake. They have bait and ice which is great too!See more..

What we loved: the jet skis were in great condition, we received excellent information on jet ski operation and safety features from the owner. The weather was perfect, the jet skis ran beautifully and we along with our children, relished the time together on the water. What was disappointing? Upon check in the owner was rather short & curt with us. We brushed it off--everybody has a bad day. However, when returning the jet skis he was even more sour, surly and quite frankly, rude. Perhaps we have just grown accustomed to "Minnesota nice" and expect it at every turn, but had this owner embraced that notion, I can guarantee this would have been a perfect day!See more..

Not sure what happened to the fellow that had a bad experience with the rental boat but it probably one of those “bad customer” deals. Their rental boats are new and in almost pristine condition when you take it out. You go over a checklist with them and sign it out. There may be a couple scuffs on it but there won’t be any rock damage. The ice cream at the little store is the best I’ve ever eaten. That’s saying a lot. You won’t find better ice cream anywhere….no kidding!See more..

Everything was perfect on the boat. Due to the size of the lake and the over 300 islands in it, a good GPS is essential. The GPS on the boat worked flawlessly. Although most rental places I called in the area only rented Saturday - Saturday, Alex was able to work with us to accommodate our schedule. This pontoon paddle pub cruise was amazing. The boat itself was top notch. They thought of everything when they built this boat. The seats are so comfortable and the coolers and ice are built into the bar in front of you so you never have to get up. They have charging stations with usb ports and cords. You can charge your phone so you will never miss a photo opportunity. They supply music or you can plug in your own play list. The bathroom on board is definitely better than a port a john. It's clean, comfortable, and has a flushing toilet. The boat has a canopy to help block some of the sun on hot days. The captain and all the owners we encountered were extremely nice and accomedating. The lake was beautiful. We did the 3 hour cruise for a bachelorette party. What was nice about this boat is when you got tired or just didn't feel like peddling they have a motor to take over for you. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time on the lake. I would definitely book this place again.See more..

They were friendly, informative, and encouraging about us trying paddle boards for the first time. Their paddle boards were high quality and easy to use. The staff dropped them off and picked them up at Pennington Mine. This was not only a convenient location, but a beautiful, easy place to kayak or paddle board. Our only complaint was that there were hidden fees that staff did not mention when we talked to them in person. These fees are not listed on their website or posted in their store. The store charged us an additional $15 (after rental and tax) for a tip and for using a credit card. It would have been better to know about these additional charges up front.See more..

Boat Rentals My sister and I showed up at Northern Lights with little preparation other than we wanted a day on the lakes in Voyageurs Natl Park. We rented a pontoon called "Misty" and could not have had a better day. Tracy and her sister, Annette, were amazing. Tracy took the time to share her experience in the north woods and then she gave us detailed maps with special places noted to stop and enjoy the lake. We made it all the way to Kettle Falls and then stopped at Lost Bay to swim and paddle board. The pontoon boat ran beautifully and we had sufficient gas and sun protection. Although we did not stay at this resort (we were camping at Echo Lake), I wouldn't hesitate to return to Northern Lights. I think we will be planning our family reunion next summer at this wonderful spot on Kabetogama. Thanks, Tracy!!! We look forward to seeing you again soon.See more..
