4.0Father Baraga's Cross(27 reviews) - Nice quick stop Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts • Religious Sites • Scenic Walking Areas
There are small but clear signs on 61 telling you where to turn for the cross. Head down the short road and park in the parking lot at the end. The cross is right behind the lot, impossible to miss! There's also a nice Rocky Beach in the same area so you can spend as little as five minutes to over an hour here, especially if you're looking for agates or just want to enjoy the view of the big lake. The cross has an interesting history as well. See more..

4.5Orr Bog Walk(21 reviews) - BRAND NEW for 2021! Scenic Walking Areas
The BRAND NEW Orr Bog Walk is now open, and it's great! The old one was entirely replaced, but follows the same path as the original. It's smooth, solid, beautiful, and wheelchair accessible, with numerous pullover spots on the 4-foot sections - main entry up to the loop junction is six feet wide. View several types of habitat along the trail, with nice views along the floating sections on the river. The old walk had certainly seen its better days, but now it's all set to go for another 30 years! Makes for a nice day trip to do the bog walk in the afternoon and then go over to the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary to see the black bears (opens at 5 p.m. - evening viewing hours only, open between Memorial Day and Labor Day)See more..
I remember that it has a lot of artifacts & on the outside you take a hike through the grasslands around it. It is located on the north end of St. Peter, Mn. just off Hwy. 169. St. Peter was an outpost, located along the Minnesota River where back in the Frontier Days they had Fur Trade & other Tradesmen items that were sold there See more..
4.5Hastings RiverWalk(7 reviews) - Love that river feel Spent < 1 hour Scenic Walking Areas
We drove to Hastings on a whim after visiting the Minnesota State Zoo. We knew nothing about Hastings. We stopped at the RiverWalk. It was worth the stop. My daughter loved seeing a train go over the train bridge. Also it was interesting learning about the spiral bridge that used to span the river. We enjoyed the walk, the views and the outdoor musical instruments that are there for people's enjoyment. It was worth the drive.See more..
I used to hike up there when I was a kid. It is so different. these new trails are not so steep, and really wide. Wide enough for a pickup truck, and they go way back into the Garvin Heights valley. Mountain bikers use them too but the sightlines are good. Not muddy either, which surprised me because the ground has a lot of clay in it. Lots of gravel had been laid down.See more..

It is a forest of towering red oak, ironwood, butternut, maple, elm, and basswood with nice trails winding along a river and a lake. In the late spring, Trilliums, hepatica, bloodroot, and dutchman's breeches grow on the forest floor.See more..
