Stroll the paved path from the east bank of the Mississippi River across a quiet bridge to a sunny grove in the middle of a Chase Island Park! A few openings in the trees provide shoreline access for anglers. Chase Island Park is furnished with several benches and a couple picnic tables, with ample parking at the visitor center on the mainland. Honestly, you won't find a much quieter, or more secluded place for a picnic, or maybe an afternoon in a hammock. Just a 1/2 mile of trails is simple for cyclists, yet small enough to walk casually. Pavement is aging, but in decent condition, even for wheelchairs, but be aware that there are some switchbacks with sharp turns on the east bank. Online maps to the park are sketchy, so from rom East River Road, turn west onto Charles Street NE. The parking lot and trailhead are located at the Minnesota Park & Recreation Association building on Charles Street NE. See more..
