Bunny’s opened at 4730 Excelsior Boulevard in St. Louis Park in 1933. One of the most often asked questions over the years has been, “Where did that name come from?” The story goes like this… The original owner, Henry Aretz, was in need of a sign for his new bar, Aretz’s Place. However, the sign maker had a different idea. He had made a mistake on a sign that read “Bunny’s” and, not wanting to scrap the job, asked Henry Aretz if he wanted to buy a sign “real cheap.” Henry, knowing a bargain when he saw one, bought the sign, and Bunny’s was started. The Aretz family owned Bunny’s until Gary and Sherman Rackner bought the bar in 1988. Bunny’s became a Bar & Grill, with the addition of a kitchen in the fall of 1988, and continued its tradition of a place where local patrons could relax with friends, catch a game, and also have a great meal. Unfortunately, Sherman passed away in 1997 and, due to the proposed redevelopment of Excelsior Boulevard, Bunny’s had to find a new location by the end of 1998. In January of 1999, Gary brought in a new business partner, Steve Koch, and they reopened Bunny’s in its current location. We are happy to be in St. Louis Park and look forward to being a fixture in the community for many years to come. The White Horse opened in downtown St. Cloud in March 26, 2008. Owner Brian Lee believed the area was full of too many corporate chain restaurants, so he implemented a business model of a scratch-kitchen, manned with unique and talented chefs in a downtown location. The White Horse built a successful lunch and dinner crowd ranging from SCSU professors, lawyers and doctors to undergrads and the creative culture of the downtown area. Built upon the foundation of the original bar constructed in 1907, the building has housed The Sportsman, Geez, Mike Morris' Superstars and upon investigating the original bar's history, Brian Lee was told by some of the locals that the original name of the place was "The White Horse" which is the origin of the name. I met some friends here on an April Saturday night. I had the 300 Brew Days DDH Triple IPA IPA - Imperial / Double New England / Hazy and the Not All Capes Wear Heroes IPA - New England / Hazy. The Not All Capes was very good and the 300 Brews was great. Everyone else enjoyed their beer and seltzers too. We were outside in the tent, which has heaters and had plenty of space. On a nice, but not warm April night I was in a polo shirt and was very comfortable. The inside was maybe a little tight if there is a big crowd. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We visit East Grand Forks every year with a few couples for a Saturday afternoon pub crawl. Boardwalk B&G always gets 2 visits during our event. Not only is it a great atmosphere sitting high on the outdoor deck overlooking the river and downtown Grand Forks, but our server, Samantha has been there the past 2 years and she makes it so fun for us. She is an absolute delight!! She remembered us from last year......I guess we made quite the impression!! Lol! We always order a couple appies and this year she recommended the Lavosh of the month. Imminent Brewing was one of our various stops on a daytrip to Northfield. They had a large patio with lots of seating and a firepit. It was a little chilly when we visited so we opted for a table indoors. Inside the building was bright thanks to several large windows and overhead doors with glass panels. The atmosphere was very typical of a modern brewery. Dogs are allowed and there were several board games and card games available for use. My husband and I each ordered a flight, three of my four choices were okay, not bad but not very memorable. I did enjoy the bock beer. They did also have a menu on the tables for food to be brought in, but we did not take advantage of this option.See more..
