There were multiple settings in which to see plants in their native atmosphere, including prairie, woods, and big settings. The gardens are part of a park that is nearly the size of New York’s Central Park! The wood chipped trail is uneven but extremely soft due to the shredded wood. It is easy to follow and you can take as long as you want. Native plants from all over the Minnesota have been collected and planted here.See more..
This gorgeous garden is a delight no matter the season. It is a great place to just sit...a respite from the collective chaos of the world. It is also a nice place to walk, feed the Koi, or to try to identify the amazing variety of trees, plants, and shrubs. If you are in the area, this is definitely a place you will want to visit.See more..

We have made Ellsworth one of our yearly stops during our visit to Lake Kabetogama. My boys (13 and 11) love the chance to climb among the rock sculptures and enjoy the view. The site has recently been updated with a wonderful new dock and we have caught fish here on two visits. We often bring a picnic to enjoy in the shelter as well. The site includes picnic tables, grills and vault toilets. We have been the only ones at the site during at least part of every visit. Bring bug spray.See more..

Stopped here to recharge our Tesla while traveling. As we were here during business hours the local staff gratiously allows us to wait inside their offices while we endured the 2 hour top up charge to get to our next trip destination. All of the staff we encountered were very polite and friendly. Seems like a wonderful place to work at. Maybe I should get a job here? I read the brochures while waiting-see pictures. The university should be be very proud of these people and what they do here. It is important work and benefits everyone. See more..
