Wow! That is what I felt at this park. It's more of a water park for me. We did go to the rock garden, a small visitor center park and to Kettle Falls hotel where we stepped on land but for the most part we were on the water. We rented a pontoon and fished and explored. If you like water, this is a national park for you. There is also a rock garden you can cruise to and some other places to stop. Try the sunset cruise with Border Guide Service. You won't be disappointed! See more..

    - Worth it! And right in the middle of town!

Excellent trail. Either park at the bottom and access via actual trail (not ADA/ paved trail) OR park at the top, take the paved trail down and hike up. To get the full nature experience, as there is off-trail access from paved trail so one can access either at any time. Very kid friendly When we mapped it we were directed to the paved trail a block off the road, so we missed the actual entrance, we doubled back though and started from the beginning once we noticed the bridges and such along the water. I did take photos of the entrances and exits. Trail halfway point is another bridge, depending on the water level you would have to come up, cross the road and go back down into the trail. Paved trails are marked with yellow plastic pillar/ bollard. 100% recommend! See more..

    Rainy Lake Visitor Center image
Of the 3 visitors centers in Voyageurs National Park, this one seems to have the most to offer. We intended to take a tour from Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center, but literally missed the boat because we didn't book early. Rainy Lake Visitor Center wasn't even on our to-do list, but because the next available boat tour debarked there, we made the drive. So dang glad we did. Ranger Eric was on staff in the center, & we learned a lot from him as we just chatted. Turns out, he was also our guide for our boat tour later that day. He was just dynamite! We also walked the short Ethno-botanical Garden trail, which is on-site. Don't overlook this Visitor Center! It's so worth a visit! See more..
  4. 2.5 Voyageurs Forest Overlook (3 reviews)
    - A nice place to stretch your legs, but not much to see.

If you need to get out and get a breath of fresh air before you get to the Ash River visitor center, then go ahead and stop here and take the short hike/walk to the overlook. Otherwise there is no reason to stop here. There are plenty of places to take a walk in the woods in the area that are much better. See more..
