This trip was awesome! Minnesota Whitewater is a small family-owned and operated company and our whole experience was great from start to finish. The owner and river guides were so friendly, safety-oriented, and knowledgeable. For $48/person, it was dirt cheap for the amount of fun we had, and well worth every cent. Our group of four did the Lower St. Louis (river levels are lower this summer) over 2 hours and it was some serious whitewater fun. Giant swells, big drops, tons of rapids, and a great break for some swimming and relaxing on a calm stretch of river! We went on the sunset cruise. The captain was very informative with the lake and points of interest. On the way back, another boat was coming out of a somewhat narrow channel and the next thing we knew, a race was on. It was exciting and exhilarating and would absolutely love to do it again! We went to Kettle Falls and there was a restaurant there called The Tilton Hilton. We had to go there because there is one in Ohio at Indian Lake that we had all been to. I go out with Garett often and have caught my personal best bluegill and steelhead with him. I’ve fished with him in spring, summer, fall, and winter. I do a lot of guided trips and he is one of the most personable and professional guides I have been with. Book him for monster panfish and reel screaming steelhead. Had the BEST time ice fishing with Brady and Baxstar fishing. I cannot recommend him enough! We did a guided ice fishing tour. It was incredible. Brady had everything set up and ready for us so when we arrived we could get straight to the fun. He had top notch equipment and allowed us to fish using multi types of poles, lures, and bait - in multiple locations on the lake! We had never been ice fishing so he was great about explaining how everything worked, gave us tips and tricks, taught us about equipment, and was able to answer our questions - all while being very patient. Not only is Brady a great guide (experienced, professional, knowledgeable, etc.), he’s also a great person. He was very friendly and we enjoyed spending the day with him. Communication was easy, prompt, and clear. We knew what to expect, what to bring, where to be, etc. He covered everything with us and made us feel at ease and excited. We had an epic time!! My sister and I booked a 1/2 day trip with Jason to celebrate our birthday. Even though it was cold and rainy, we had a blast! Jason has extensive experience with the area lakes and has great state-of-the-art gear. His boat was very comfortable and he made sure to check out all the hot fishing spots on the lake. We landed some really nice smallmouth bass and a northern pike. Jason spins very entertaining yarns and knows a lot of history of the lakes, which made our visit even more fun. Not sure what happened to the fellow that had a bad experience with the rental boat but it probably one of those “bad customer” deals. Their rental boats are new and in almost pristine condition when you take it out. You go over a checklist with them and sign it out. There may be a couple scuffs on it but there won’t be any rock damage. The ice cream at the little store is the best I’ve ever eaten. That’s saying a lot. Went fishing with Jason for 3 days at Lake of the Woods. Best fishing we have ever experienced. Fun as heck to hang out with, very knowledgable, and put us right on top of the fish!!! For days prior to our arrival, the area was pounded by rain. Brennan called the day before our trip to let us know that the water was not fishable for our date and rescheduled us for Jul 4th in hopes of better water conditions. We changed our plans from kayaking the larger rivers to fishing the small spring creeks. We had a fabulous time fishing with Brennan. He put us on brown trout right away in a spot I would have never dreamed held fish. The next creek we visited had several holes out of which we pulled fish. These were healthy, wild trout. At the last stop of the day, I even caught a Brookie after several hits and misses. Brennan and Mel were very accommodating to reschedule and reorchestrate our trip and outfit us for wading when we had planned for kayaking and wet wading. Brennan did an excellent job coaching us on how to fish the streams and showing us what bug activity was going on. I highly recommend Mel and Brennan. Everything, including cleaning the fish, was included in his price. He even gave up his sunglasses when our son started getting a migraine. He was prepared with Excedrin and a drink to wash it down. And the fishing....! The first night the walleye were biting like crazy, and the second night we were rewarded with some elusive monster crappie and a beautiful sunet out on his boat.
