  5. 5.0 St Croix Crossing Bridge (10 reviews)
    - Great Biking on The St Croix Crossing Trail Loop
    Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bridges
    St Croix Crossing Bridge image
One of the best ways to experience the bridge is to bike the St Croix Crossing Trail Loop. It is a 5.4 mile loop that is best biked in a counter clockwise fashion. Begin the ride in downtown Stillwater and head south along the river until the trail turns to the east and follow the dedicated bike path onto the bridge. The bike/walking path is safely separated from the busy traffic on the bridge. It is a bit of a climb as you leave Stillwater but biking along the ascent up the bridge is manageable. Several outstanding observation points are found as you travel over the bridge. Navigating through Houlton was a bit tricky but after a couple wrong turns I found the route that takes you on a steep descent(the reason for traveling counter clockwise) to and across the Stillwater Lift Bridge returning you to your starting point. The views of Stillwater across the St Croix are also beautiful. There are a number of nice outdoor patios to grab a refreshing beverage at the end of your ride. See more..

Granite Falls Suspension Bridge (R0657) image
Just driving around the town. We were looking for a place for lunch. We happened to come across this lovely park. We were surprised to find this huge falls. Duh, Granite Falls! the towns name. We're sure the falls are even bigger after a rain. While we we were visiting this town --We also enjoyed the extremely fascinating air museum. We missed the air show but will try to make it next year--I hear it is spectacular. More people should know how much this city has to offer. We stayed for a long time watching the pelicans and ducks. The suspension bridge is great. You can walk from one shore to the other -- no vehicles. The next time we are in this unique city we will bring a picnic lunch and just enjoy the view again. This city knows how to make the most of their river frontage. See more..
  7. 4.5 Anoka-Champlin Mississippi River Bridge (3 reviews)

    Anoka-Champlin Mississippi River Bridge image
An original steel bridge with its swivel section to allow steamboat passage (opened 1884) replaced the previous flat-bottom cable ferries that crossed the Mississippi River at the same spot starting in 1855. Today's bridge was opened in 1929, and is on the National Register of Historic Places for its unique concrete construction with long spanning arches. Besides the views of the bridge & the Mississippi River, Peninsula Point Park (also called Two Rivers Historical Park) is a good spot to picnic and walk around its shaded loop trail and view the homes along the east bank of the Rum River where it flows into the Mississippi. Park flooding is common, but when it is accessible it's a pleasant spot to relax & take in the views. See more..
