Since Bass Pro acquired Cabelas back in 2017, they have added many new activities in the store. This weekend and up through Easter Sunday, they are offering free photos with the Easter bunny and can also purchase additonal packages for a moderate fee. They also had many table set up for kids to color and also a felt wreath project in one of their corporate conference rooms upstairs. We love to look at all the animals on display and the aquarium as well. All of the employees were very nice and friendly as the kids loved the Easter bunny. What is not to like. Sweet Reads is exactly what its name implies, the sweetest reads in Minnesota. For me, a place like this is all about ambiance and attitude and Sweet Reads has plenty of that and more to spare. Lisa, the owner, is an Austin gem and you can't have what the store has to offer without having the personality of its owner. Ask her about how she started the store and sit back to hear a wonderful tale. Sweet Reads also features Minnesota authors and if you are trying to get noticed as a writer, you might want to take your first book to her. Lots of books, not well organized, but who cares. The tour took place while the employees were off work (Saturday for us) so we could get closer looks at the machines and there was no noise interference. I live 5 minutes from the store, so I go there several times a year. It is a treat. One of the things I like is how they display the books. The books are laid out on a table, and there are many good ones to look at, but not so many that one is overwhelmed. And there is natural light which makes it easy to see everything. Virtually every time I ask about a book the saleswoman will tell me if people like it or not, if she read it, and so on. Can you imagine a bookstore where the staff actually know the books? Yes, it is a pleasure! Of course they special order any books not in stock. Their stock is somewhat limited, as the store is small, which brings me to my only complaint. We were so happy to find this lovely candy shop open on our anniversary Twosday 2-22-22 right after a snow storm. We met the owner Ray who provided us so many suggestions. All of the staff were friendly. Most of the chocolates are made in the shop and most importantly - so yummy! The pecan turtles were really good. And the salted camels. Definitely a good experience and highly recommended for anyone visiting Park Rapids, even during the winter months. We hope to be back someday.See more..

Staff working the donut shop stood and watched as I had to physically pull Olive off my dog and they did nothing, even as we asked for help. Not okay. And I do not blame the dog- that is the owner’s responsibility. Sadly we had to leave after paying $10 a piece just to enter because this dog would not leave us a lone.See more..
