    - Great view, easy climb

It's a short, easy walk to the tower (warning, if you are out of shape, it's a little uphill to get there). The tower only allows for 6 people at a time, as that is all that will realistically fit at the top. The tower itself is much easier to climb than it looks, and the views are spectacular. If it's breezy, the tower will be in motion - if you are sensitive, heads up! See more..

It had been more than ten years since I hiked to the top of the Elba Fire Tower, and my wife had never been up there. On a mild late-winter day, we decided to do the hike. There is a small parking area on the south side of Highway 26 (Center Street) about a quarter-mile east of the town of Elba, Minnesota. That's where the trail starts. It was 637 steps to the top of the bluff, then another 150 steps up the fire tower. Beautiful view of the small town of Elba, and the Whitewater River. Our legs were a bit tired and sore by the time we got back down to our car. Stopped at a local bar-grill for a beer and snacks. A very nice afternoon. See more..
