4.5Beach Walk(1.355 reviews) - Spectacular Sunsets Sunday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 AM Historic Walking Areas • Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
One of our favorite places to be! White powder sand, clean, well maintained and clear water. On this visit we enjoyed 4 nights walking at sunset, each different and beautiful! One night was watching a thunderstorm with lightning lighting up the shoreline ( from our balcony). Clearwater has great sidewalks and a huge selection of restaurants just a few steps away.See more..

4.5Lighthouse Point Park(700 reviews) - Beautiful place for sunrise/sunset Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Beaches • Parks • Hiking Trails
I arrived at the park at 6am when it opened, to view the sunrise. This park is so beautiful, with lots of boardwalk, and a very long jetty, it is wheelchair/scooter friendly ! With access to the beach as well, and the majestic Ponce Inlet Lighthouse looms overhead in the backdrop. I do feel that the $10 entrance fee is a little much, given there are not any facilities except for a restroom. However, if you are handicap and have a sticker, you can get in for free.See more..
4.5Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail(616 reviews) - One of Nature's last gifts to us. Hiking Trails • Scenic Drives
I have lived in Central Florida since 1982. As an avid motorcycle rider, I have taken long rides all over the State. Bikers generally hate city congestion and gravitate towards rural scenic roads with minimal interference. It took many years until I discovered the Ormond Loop, but when I did, I made dozens of rides around it and never get tired of the magnificent scenery. The beauty is indescribable as you cruise roads with majestic ancient trees that branch over the roads. In today's advanced industrialized world, beautiful seldom traveled roads are being phased out with cookie-cutter housing developments and regulated roads with stop signs and traffic lights everywhere. The Ormond Loop is one of my favorite rides to this day because Nature gives us the ultimate experience before seeing a McDonald's and 7/11 at every traffic stop. So do the Loop before the money-making developers ruin it.See more..
4.5Pinellas Trail(498 reviews) - A great experience Hiking Trails
There’s so much to see and do along this trail. We travelled by E-bike so we were able to cover about 25 of the 38 miles. The only negative- we ran in to 2 jerks in our week stay in Dunedin- both on the trail. Each jerk was on their high dollar racing bikes and made rude passing comments. That group thinks they own the trail and they take themselves way too seriously. The trail is for everyone’s pleasure. See more..

4.5La Chua Trail(111 reviews) - What a site. Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
April 18 2021 Took people from out of town to hopefully see lots of alligators on the trail and we weren’t disappointed. The trail has been opened up after an extended closure and you are able to walk quite a ways next to lots of alligators sleeping on the banks. Quite a few huge to baby alligators were visible near the water. We enjoyed our visit to La Chief Trail.See more..
This is a 3 mile walking loop around the golf course. It can get a little busy but not so much that you can't keep going. Be careful of the time of day you go as there are some portions of the trail where there is very little or no shade so it can get a little too hot/sunny. Plenty of benches to take a rest if you need to,See more..

This trail was pleasant. The history is fascinating. It is hard to believe that from 1861-1932, this was the site of actively traveled train tracks. Now, it offers a sweet, shaded sanctuary. Our experience in February, was that it was highly maintained (I mention this because I read other reviews that express poor trail maintenance). If one is interested in the flora, they will be pleased; the signs along the way were informative. Benches are placed throughout if needed. It was surprising that during our hal hour on the trail, we passed five others. It is nice to know that others are enjoying this trail, too!See more..
4.0Shell Mound County Park(67 reviews) - Great place to spend an afternoon! Parks • Hiking Trails
What lovely boardwalks, and trails that meander through marshes and woods! There was plenty of signage sharing information about the history and eco-system. It was delightful to be among the Spanish Moss, and the Palms We took two short trails; both were loops. One was around the burial sites and the other was on the Dennis Creek Trail. We walked about 1.5 miles. The scenery continuously changes, the trails are maintained and on a weekday in February, it was not crowded at all!See more..
4.5Veterans Park at Rivergate(61 reviews) - 10th Anniversary Trip Spent 1-2 hours Marinas • Parks • Hiking Trails
We stopped and walked thru the park. This park is clean, beautiful and a great monument. We loved it. My husband is a retired vet and my son is currently serving in the USAF. This park is well worth the stop. They have bathrooms as well, although we didn’t use them. Park took us about 30 minutes to walk through. See more..
This trail pops up near the Brighthouse Field and runs east to Safety Harbor. You'll transverse through numerous inclines, park like open areas and shady woods. If headed east, you can head north on Bayshore Blvd along Tampa Bay to Safety Harbor center, about .5 mile, to grab a Starbucks, ice cream or a visit to the Spa. Gentle workout.See more..

Took our bikes on this trail. Beautiful scenery along a lagoon and Indian river. Very few people. Rougher trail for bikes. My hybrid had difficulty with some sandy areas. My husband’s mountain bike was able to handle it. Would do this again with a bike with wider tires. No restrooms on Jacks Island. The closest public bathrooms are at pepper beach. Trails were marked.See more..
This is a stop on the road to Flamingo and is worth a 1/2 hour. It’s a completely different ecosystem and although there are no alligators there are several different plant species and an area where you can see different types of tree snails which you don’t see in other areas. Definitely worth a stop. We spent about 1/2 hour exploring the area - if you just quickly walk through the paved trail area you will miss many things so walk slow and look at the trees.See more..

This five mile paved bicycle trail is about nine miles from downtown Crystal River on Hwy 19 N. Just before approaching the bridge over the canal, turn left. The first time we parked near the bridge and road half the trail to where the bathrooms are located. The second time we drove down a dirt road to the bathroom and and parked in that parking lot and rode to the Gulf scenic overlook. We saw dolphins, osprey, and four pink birds. There is a covered overlook area with a large picnic table at the Gulf, as well as different spots along the way to stop and sit on covered benches near the water. From the bridge, there is also an equestrian access.See more..

4.5Spring to Spring Trail(19 reviews) - Volusia has great trails Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
Volusia County has some of the best trails in the state. Although, this trail lacks signage on the leg that runs north to Deleon Springs, and has a few gaps to deal with, it's still a very nice ride. On the north leg, just be sure where the gaps are located so you won't get lost. See more..

4.5Spruce Bluff Preserve(16 reviews) - Spruce Bluff: Hidden History in Port St. Lucie, FL Hiking Trails
Spruce Bluff was settled by pioneers in the 1890s. A big freeze in 1895 wiped out the crops and the settlers abandoned the area. The preserve has the grave of some of the settlers, some short hiking trails and even an Ais Indian mound that dates back some 2000 years. It's at the back of a neighborhood in Port St. Lucie and nobody really knows it's there. Great for hiking and biking. Family-friendly—certainly no hills! It's a cool little corner of history in a place where history has visited seldomly.See more..
I'm writing this review with the intent of praising this park but yet keeping it saved as a 'hidden gem'. Each visit for me has been relaxing and calming. No bling, no zoom! Just a less traveled path. It's a fairly small park, I guess that helps it from becoming a busy place. The little lake is tranquil. There are some short trails to enjoy, along with a small walkway bridge. I'm content to sit at one of the rustic tables and just listen to the sounds of....nothing. Peace and quiet. Ahhhhhhh!See more..

3.0Dover Sydney Park(13 reviews) - Nice trails! Parks • Hiking Trails
Nice trails - parts of the trail is shaded while others are in the sun so don't forget sunscreen! The paths are wide and it is pet friendly. The only thing I don't like is that they don't have maps and I can't seem to find any maps online. Also, note that there is a $2 parking fee - not a bad price at all but make sure to bring some ones so you can put your payment in an envelope!See more..
It's not a really long walk and it's flat. I was lucky enough to get there in late afternoon when we were the only ones there. At the end of the trail is an overlook on the waterway which was very relaxing. Also, there is a place you can squat down and put your hands in the water. I splashed around a little and a very large bottlenose dolphin thought I was a tasty treat. He got quite close and rolled on his side to look at me. Then he splashed around the cove with his tail to see if there were any REAL tasty treats. He swam around a little more, then disappeared. What a totally memorable experience!See more..

4.5Welaka State Forest(10 reviews) - Quiet peaceful walk through the state park Spent 2-3 hours Equestrian Trails • Hiking Trails
Quiet peaceful trails to walk along and enjoy this State Park in Welaka Fl. Enjoyed the solitude and the natural surroundings. We were the only ones on the trail. Payment to use the state park is on the honor system. We left $4.00 in the lock box that is there for payment. Saw some butterflies, and listened to the birds. Must use mosquito repellant as there were quite a few mosquitos bothering us without it.See more..
5.0Alligator Lake Recreation Area(9 reviews) - Beautiful Park Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM Biking Trails • Hiking Trails • Kayaking & Canoeing
Having been to a Mexico many times and always wanting to see an alligator in the wild, and never finding success, I inquired at the restaurant where I ate the night before. The server pointed me on the direction of Alligator Lake. There are 7-8 different trails that you can take to see different parts of the lake as per the map in the main parking area. I decided, after having nothing to do on this Friday morning, to take the longest trail, which encircles the entire lake. I saw so many different types of beautiful birds and lovely landscape situations which made for beautiful photographs. Always on the lookout for the ever elusive gator. After walking for about an hour, and knowing I was almost back to my original starting spot, I saw a 4 foot blackish critter sunning himself(or herself....no idea) on the edge of a little swampy stream. I mean it wasn’t a 10 foot man eater that would make a great story, but it was a gator, nonetheless. The park is BEAUTIFUL and I highly recommend it !See more..
4.5Barr Hammock Preserve(9 reviews) - Miles of peace Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails

It was a wonderful day for a ride. We rode our road bikes from the very beginning out to the gulf. Stopped for a short discussion at the picnic table that over looks the water. There was a gentle breeze coming on shore and the birds were very active. There are other picnic tables along the canal if you want to stop. It's a 5 mile trip one way for us. There are other entrances to the trail or you can drive all the way to the end if you. A nice place to take your family for a ride or a picnic. Restrooms and water fountain at the trailhead only.See more..
4.5St. Francis Trail(8 reviews) - Beautiful Gem Sunday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
I picked the wrong time of year to explore this trail...summer. It was hot, humid, and the mosquitoes were ravenous. All that said, I love this trail! I did the full loop. The lush forest was beautiful, the peace and serenity unmatched, and the trail was well maintained. I sat down on logs often just to listen to the birds and the quiet. I'll definitely be back for an overnight in the winter.See more..
My husband and I were vacationing in St Augustine in early March and decided to try this trail. It took us about 20 minutes to drive to a trail head in Vermont Heights I think. We did a 14 mile potion of the trail between Vt Heights and west of Hastings and were smitten. It was wonderful. We took our mountain bikes, but this trail would be great for roadies. There were places to stop with facilities. There were a few major road crossings, but they were well marked and had traffic lights for safety. It was a great tour through old Florida. I would definitely ride this trail again if in the area.See more..

This is a wonderful way to traverse the Everglades. Take your time and enjoy the scenery on this 38 mile journey. There are several pullouts for trails and viewing. We say an alligator early on in one of the ponds right by the road. I'm sure there is plenty of wildlife around during the early and later periods of the day. It's a good road with lots of room. The speed limit is actually 55mph so you won't be poking around unless you want to.See more..
4.0Big Shoals Trail(5 reviews) - The Woodpecker bike trail can be accessed from Big Shoals. Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
The Woodpecker trail is a 6.8 mile (round trip) paved bike trail through the woods. It is not used much, and frequently you can bike the entire trail and only see one other couple. It's wonderful for taking children, as it is a very easy flat ride, through native Florida. There is a porta- potty at the "Little Shoals" end and a rest room at the Big Shoals end. The cost is only $4 per car with up to 8 people in the car. At a leisurely pace it will take 45-60 min. round trip. There are a couple of benches along the way to stop and rest if desired.See more..
