I had a few hours between business trip meetings and decided to stop for a visit. It is small (doable in a few hours, but very nice grounds and friendly and helpful staff). Everyone their had a nice smile and seemed to enjoy their jobs. The mermaid show was packed (they let the line seat about 20 minutes before the show, so get in line about 30 minutes prior to show). You cannot use flash in the theater, and my camera phone did not end up with great picture. Seating in the middle is best for viewing. Took the boat ride (about 20 minutes) and that was enjoyable as the guide explained about some eagles nests, fish and turtles we saw along the springs. Lots of peacocks strutting around. There is plenty of free parking. At $13 it is worth it considering the prices of the Orlando theme parks.See more..

We live next door to the park so we are there frequently. There is so much to do - the observation tower is awesome, canoeing, kayaking, mountain bike trails, hiking. Or just sit by the water and enjoy the view! You never know what type of wildlife you will spot from bald eagles and osprey to gopher tortoises and deer, and so much more. There are frequently very interesting presentations at the Kimball Center. One of my favorites was watching one of the Highwaymen Artists transform a blank canvas into a gorgeous painting right in front of us. Oh, and Firefest is sooooo much fun!See more..

We rented two jet skis. Equipment was in great condition. We hadn't been on jet skis in a while, and staff was super nice and very helpful explaining the area and jet ski basics. The gulf was rough, so a staff member guided us to a protected lake. We had the area to ourselves, allowing us to test our skills, and they even stayed to take some photos while we rode and to guide us back. All in all a great time.See more..
Old time Florida fun. Went to Wikki Watchee with the kids and grand kids and had a wonderful experience. We started with the mermaid show "Little Mermaid" which the kids loved because they were familiar with the movie. Toured the park with all the wildlife exhibits then spent the afternoon at Buccaneer Bay. I was hesitant to bring the grand kids thinking that it may bore them. However, I was wrong they loved the experience and the swimming hole. Food at the park was reasonable and good.See more..

We had the best airboat tour yesterday! We booked it together with our private manitee tour on the river, and received a 10% discount by booking 2 tours. We already raved about the manitee tour and will do the same for the airboat tour. We were so lucky to have Irish Dan as our airboat captain and tour guide! He is just so darn funny and so friendly! He has the sharpest eye! He spots every little thing and will cut the engine back to point things out and explain things you are seeing. We were so lucky because he spotted a dolphin and took us close enough to have a look. The dolphin was frolicking around and would swim by us! If we come back to Florida, we will take these tours again and will definitely be requesting Irish Dan for our airboat tour! We highly recommend this tour. We were a group of 6, various ages and personalities and often struggle to find common things to do. You won't find a better place in the United States to shore dive that at The Blue Heron Bridge in Phil Foster Park. Easy access just feet from convenient parking. The covered beach entry is large and shaded from the Florida sun. There's an incredible variety of life to be seen underwater if your diving or snorkeling. You'll want to dive at slack high tide fro the clearest water and you might consider contacting a local dive guide to show you where to find things like octopus, and nudibranchs, but it's not necessary. Its a shallow dive averaging about 15-20 feet at the most. Be sure to look for the speedboat wreck and go under the bridge! We visit this place about once a month and it never disappoints.See more..

Rented a bowrider for four hours from Jack's and had an absolute great experience. This is basically a self guided tour. We were met at the designated time and provided a briefing explaining everything we needed to do to get to our end point, avoid hazzards, remain within Bay regulations and return safely. My 12 year old daughter and I Paddleboard together frequently. I own my own boards but enjoy heading over to Coastal Paddleboarding to to launch from their dock. They are located in a perfect location for folks to go and enjoy getting on the water. They are kind enough to let me launch from their dock to enjoy the area as well. Next paddle I purchase will be from them and I highly recommend them for those to get out and take advantage of Stuart, FL and the water here. I plan on taking a trip with them to Pecks Lake area and surfing a bit.See more..

Met with Jim and we had a small class for SUP lessons. I've done a little bit, but wanted to have a class to help with fundamentals and learn proper technique and form. Despite being a little unconfident on the board, Jim had gotten us all up and going in no time.
