4.5Flagler College(5.021 reviews) - First time need to see! Sunday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Educational sites
Just in time for the holidays, historical tours of Flagler College's Hotel Ponce de Leon will begin hourly tours starting Saturday, December 11 through January 2. Tours will depart at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm. Due to limited capacity, it is heavily suggested to purchase tickets in advance. Tours highlight the architectural heritage of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, a nationally designated historic landmark building, built by Henry Flagler in 1888. The tour begins in the Rotunda, a 64-foot domed ceiling supported by eight ornately carved oak pillars. The interior dome displays stunning murals by George Maynard. The 800 seat Dining Hall boasts an elliptical barrel-vaulted ceiling, pierced with Tiffany stained-glass windows, musicians’ galleries, and carved oak chairs imported from Austria. Today students casually take their meals seated on these chairs.See more..
At the Marine Science Center our main goal is rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick and injured turtles and birds. You can see our sea turtle patients from the turtle terrace and get a behind the scenes view through the hospital viewing window. In the gallery, guests will also take a journey through Florida marine ecosystems discovering the animals that are indigenous to this area. A hands-on experience awaits you at our stingray and invertebrate touch tanks. Explore the nature trail and climb the observation tower for views of the estuary. Don't forget to walk through the Mary Keller Bird Sanctuary. Here you will see our permanent resident birds that can no longer live in the wild. We offer daily animal education presentations where you will experience up close views of raptors and reptiles. Call for daily presentation times.See more..

We took a guided tour of the center, which is an easy walk and full of interesting wild life. Our guide did a wonderful job of giving us a picture of the life of the Calusa people and their interactions with the first Europeans.
