This was my third trip out this year. While Kyle, Solomon and the rest of the crew are working their butts off I have yet to catch a fish (okay there was that Remora) the new guy Solomon is a great kid and an asset to the crew of the Blue Huron II. I had a problem with my own reel and he helped me fix it while the boat was moving to another fishing spot. Thank you for the help Solomon. I would recommend this eco tour on the Homosassa River or any of their tours offered. We had the boat to ourselves and Rick was our captain. He was very knowledgeable, polite and responsive to our requests during the tour. We had visitors from the north and they thoroughly enjoyed it; including a 15-year-old teenager! Luckily, the weather was perfect for a late December day and we learned a lot about the river, it's history and the Homosassa area. We were also given discount tickets to the Homosassa Wildlife Refuge Center (state park) which we visited afterwards and enjoyed very much. I would also like to comment on the office personnel. Captain Mike is the best guide in the Everglades, and if I fished everywhere in the country I’m sure I’d be able to say the best in the US. We catch fish every time we are out with him, but our most recent trip was the best day of fishing in my entire life. Capt Josh and his lovely wife Brittany who handles most of communication, so Capt josh can do his thang, are awesome. And that’s before we got on the water. We had a 7:15 launch and on time off we went. He made us feel very comfortable from the start and communication through the headsets was nice. Pointing out several native beautiful birds, over 13 crocs/ gators, a beautiful bald eagle in flight then pirched for us to see its Glory. The details he points out to make the experience even better so your not darting your eyes all over the place is great, we were able to find everything he was pointing out by his expertise. The boat ride itself is very smooth and actually relaxing. I do recommend the earlier the better as it’s like going across glass literally and the wildlife was beautiful on a dew topped swamp / lake. I rented a pair of jet skis for myself, my wife and a couple of neighbors that joined us for the day. Dale was great getting through the paperwork quickly, going over the safety rules, and then making sure we were familiar with the area on the map. He gave us some good ideas for how we spent our time and plotted our course. The jet skis rode very well and were pretty fast. We all had a blast! I will say that the jet skis are a little more fun riding solo, but they also aren't cheap. Be sure you plan for enough time for everyone to get some solo time if you have multiple riders. An exceptional day of fishing with Captain Scott Rose. I have fished on over 100 guide trips and this one is at the top of my list. Fantastic variety and numbers and quality fish. Four Clown Knifefish to 6 pounds, ~40 Peacock bass to 5 pounds, 9 Largemouth Bass to 1.5 pounds and some 4 or 5 Oscars for extra credit! If you have the time and resources you can also travel to South America for a chance at monster Peacock with Scott. But if you cannot travel that far and are in the Miami area and want a chance to catch either Peacock or Knifefish, or both, then I highly recommend you contact Scott and schedule a fish trip. We can’t say enough good things about Captain Sean and Mellow Mangrove. He has lived in the area his whole life and he knows several of the manatees individually. He told us all about the history and life of the manatees and the area and explained all of the rules thoroughly. We were the only boat in the area for most of the trip (we did the 7 am tour!). The sunrise was spectacular and the wetsuits made the water warm enough to hang out for a while. He was patient and kind with me freaking out while snorkeling and helped me find a good solution (i’m pretty sure a few of the manatees came over to me on a pity visitation…). The manatees were interactive and playful and it was very clear that Captain Sean respects them and is working hard to keep them happy and healthy. We caught and released an amazing jumping Tarpon. We caught and released a 25 pound Snook. For the day, we caught and released several other species of various sizes. We took two separate tours on different days. The airboat tour was with Capt Gavin and he showed us a great time for an hour and a half. The airboat was fun and fast and the scenery is beautiful. The best tour by far though was the semi private manatee swim with Capt Mike and tour guide Paige. We booked a 7am tour which seemed VERY early since we drove up from Tampa but it’s the best bet to see the manatees. After a brief safety video everyone got into wetsuits and headed to the boat. By 8am we were in the water and swimming with manatees. This tour was 4 hours and was worth every penny. We had snacks and drinks provided and a restroom on board if needed. This was a great tour for the whole family, even though I do think older kids/teens would probably enjoy it more than young children. Highly recommend!!See more..

Captain Wes made this trip so much fun! Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about fishing and showing us how to properly hold the poles and reel in a fish, he kept us entertained the whole entire trip and made us laugh and have a good time. He was also able to give us some history about places we passed by boat. We caught several fish, had a shark online once and a second one swam up to our boat to try and take our fish . The fishing was great. Captain Mike got us on some good fish, but every great fishing trip has its flaws. The first mate(I forgot his name) was telling us to leave one of our fish, and some bait we were going to use later. It was obvious that he was going eat it, and take our bait for the next people. If I pay $1000 to go catch fish and keep everything, I am going to keep every penny worth. Other than that situation, Therapy IV was great, and I highly recommend Captain Mike. We got to see some really big snappers get caught however could not keep them being out of season. Other than that you were on your own. Me personally I think the wrong hook size was being used and the bait was large chucks of minnows and squid that made the catching of fish more difficult. This is a not-to-be-missed experience! Capt Craig, 7th generation native of this rarest of areas, opened the curtains to let us experience a disappearing life. Dark clouds departed as we stepped inside Capt Craig’s boat, his eye missing nothing and rich history fascinating. Meandering through the group of manatees we headed out toward open water and a lush green islands. Past a rookery of egrets and cormorants we found a roseate spoonbill sifting and feeding. At Calusa Indian mounds of oyster shells we disembarked to explore the layers of centuries, noting pottery and primitive tools. Capt Craig’s family were forced to leave their own island home in 1960’s but we explored the graveyard, exotic plants, snails, and paths. Shelling just before sunset we found so many treasures. We reserved with Brian and I believe it was Mike that got us on our way on rental day. They provided some recommendations as to where to go and what to see thru the lagoon and Sebastian river and also provided some maps so we could navigate safely. Top notch operation and employees. They can get you unstuck from the bottom or untangled super fast so everyone gets to fish as much as possible. Also my mom walks with a cane. I normally don't write reviews because I feel everyone has an opinion on everything these days and frankly they seem to be the only one who cares about their opinion. However being a local and fishing and boating with a lot of locals I can't express what an amazing Charter Service this is. I have gone on charters all over, from Maine to the Keys, from Seattle to Puerto Vallarta. I have never been around such a professional team and knowledgeable people as I have with Scales N Tales. We left the Dock at 9:30am and by 12pm we limited out on our catch. Three of the five in our group had never chartered before and we came back with over 125lbs of Grouper, amongst only 10 fish. They were so professional and knowledgeable I will never Charter any boat unless it's with them. Jason is a fantastic guide! My two friends and I were on a trip to check off a bucket list item. While out we hooked a couple sharks, a 5ft tarpon and a 16-17ft SAWFISH. While out on the boat we were given various tips and tricks on how to real in something of that size. Not only did we have an absolute blast, we learned a lot about fishing in the area. If any of my fishing buds from Michigan ask for an recommendations on a guide down in the Cape Coral area I will definitely recommend Jason!See more..

I have fished with Capt Matt Santiago several times over the past 10 years and I've always had a great experience and caught some great fish. This trip was no exception. I booked 2 days and the bite was on fire!! The 1st day we caught 2 tarpon about 50 lbs each and lost a BIG ONE estimated about 150lbs - unfortunately the hook pulled after about a 10 minute fight and a few incredible jumps. We also caught a nice cobia, snapper and grouper that came home for dinner. 2nd day we targeted redfish and the action was non-stop with double and triple headers of nice fish averaging 24-30". I lost count, but we probably caught 20 or 30 redfish. We caught a ton of great fish and Capt Matt is a great guy to fish with, not to mention, his new boat (Sabalo 27) is absolutely incredible. What a day of fishing! Capt Ray knows his stuff and put us on fish. Reds, drum, snook, tarpon and seatrout. Capt Ray kept us in stitches too with his jokes and stories. Not a dull moment to the day. What a place too! if you've never been to the 10,000 Islands you haven't fished. We saw dolphins, manatees, sharks, jumping eagle rays and hundreds species of shore birds. This was a wonderful tour to take. Very inexpensive and well worth the two hour boat Eco tour. My husband and I take pictures of wildlife so our purpose for the tour was to travel the Withlacoochee River and take pictures of the wildlife. We were not disappointed. The added bonus was the narrative given by Captain Rick. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and identified a lot of the plants and foliage for us. I highly recommend this tour for anyone to take if you are in the area.See more..
