4.5Three Sisters Springs(1.610 reviews) - See the Manatees from the Boardwalk! Sunday: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
This natural inlet in Crystal River contains three natural springs, with crystal-clear turquoise waters and an abundance of wildlife. In winter, look out for the manatees that migrate and seek refuge in the warm water. Get up close to these gentle giants by kayaking, and even on a swimming and snorkeling tour—just remember to know your "manatee manners." If you have any questions, the wildlife guides are always on hand to help. You can also enjoy gorgeous views from the boardwalk and hiking trails all year round. The best way to get there is by trolley from City Hall, which is included in your admission ticket. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Crystal River(625 reviews) - Small Group Manatee Swim at Crystal River through River Venure (Get Your Guide) Bodies of Water
We experienced a small group manatee swim at Crystal River with guide Dave and Captain Troy from River Ventures USA (booked through Get your Guide). A fantastic experience, with knowledgeable and caring people. Although out of the main season we gor to see a mummy manatee nursing her calf and had interactions with various other manatees. Whole eperience was tailored to the care and protection of the manatees. Lovely little touches like complimentary drinks (inc wine) and snacks, as well as a little side trip to the three sisters spring. Lot's of manatee retail therapy back at base and friendly canine greetings from the puppies. All in all a great day and worth the drive out from Orlando. Thank youSee more..

4.0Sunwest Park(164 reviews) - Nice sand. Like a massage of understood variety. Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water • Beaches • Parks
Pulled up to park. Some technology suit type machine wanted $5 to park. I was like whaaat?! I'm good on that dog. I mean machine. So I was disappointed but to be honest with you, it was more like I was disappointed in like, myself and my life choices that all in all and summarily brought me to this Man made beach in Hudson,Flawda with Like $20 man And without the societal normal willingness to part with qtr of that to park. And I was like whoa. That was like a moment of clarity and then the clouds returned to my norm. And I was like whoa. 4/5 stars. I definitely recommend bringing arm floaties. Adult arm floaties sold at my shop in nice spot in the woods off of Trouble creek and Congress. Call out before walking up, communication key in these parts. Trust everyone except yourself dogs.See more..

4.5South Beach Park(103 reviews) - Really nice first impression Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water • Beaches • Parks
Our family is moving to Vero Beach next year and, while we were all out house-hunting, we stopped briefly to walk the beach at this beautiful Atlantic Ocean location. It was so perfect: white sand, turquoise surf, as far as the eye can see. The walk from the parking lot (which is free but we do not know the parking restrictions (i.e. how many hours before a fine kicks in) and so we all ventured forth. Some really wonderful land tortoises were serenely (as possible amidst the people) munching grass near the parking area and then we began the short boardwalk-bridge walk through vegetation to the beach. Pure eye candy! Although there is supposed to be a place to rent umbrellas and chairs, we did not see that business and would do more research to locate it, when the time comes to spend hours there. South Beach rates high on our list of pristine beaches.See more..

4.5Halifax River(52 reviews) - Check out the houses of all the rich people Bodies of Water
I've been boating on the river a half dozen times in the past few months. There are lots of dockside restaurants (and bars) where you can boat up and enjoy a little local cuisine. The river itself is not terribly scenic, but if you like spending time on the water, you'll like this I reckon. No matter which direction you go, you'll see lots of houses that could be on the old show Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous. Lots of beautiful homes - and you can also rate how nice their docks are.See more..
4.0Lake Trafford(51 reviews) - Best south Florida airboat experience Bodies of Water
Have now done Everglades City airboats and Airboats and Alligators and firmly believe the Lake Trafford experience is far superior as you experience far more wildlife; lots of alligators, a variety of birds and a soft shell turtle. We got a hour + airboat ride around the lake. Grandkids, 6, 9 and 11 thoroughly enjoyed the experience. See more..

4.5Green Cove Springs(47 reviews) - A beautiful park right on the water Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Parks • Gardens
This is a beautiful spot located on the banks of the St Johns River. There is a spring fed pool and the runoff goes over a rocky bank to a stream where we saw herons and egrets when we visited. People were having picnics, fishing and kids were running about playing. I agree with the prior poster who referenced Mayberry! It’s worth a stop if you get the opportunity.See more..
4.5Egan's Creek Park(47 reviews) - Great place to hike Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Bodies of Water • Parks
Great place to hike with abundant wildlife! My husband and I parked at the Atlantic Recreation Center and hiked the northern part of the park in the morning, had lunch at Salt Life, then parked in the Residence Inn parking lot on Sadler Road and hiked the southern part of the park in the afternoon. We saw alligators, anhingas, egrets, herons, and many other beautiful birds, but not too many people. This is an amazing place to spend the day outdoors.See more..
4.5Whitcomb Bayou(47 reviews) - Slow Peaceful Beautiful Area to Visit in Florida Bodies of Water
Visiting Tarpon Springs is a great trip if you are in Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area. The town has winding roads around several Bayou's that lead to the Gulf. During the winter manatee's are visiting Spring Bayou (the gem of all Bayou's) to snuggle up to the warm spring water. Craig Park has beautiful trees and benches to sit and relax viewing Spring Bayou and some historic homes surrounding it.. You can launch a kayak and travel in calm waters around surrounding Bayou's and end up at the Sponge Dock area where there are restaurants and shops to visit. Tarpon Springs is a charming town, and nice to visit where traffic is slower paced and is less of a hustle and bustle area as most cities in Florida.See more..
4.5St. Lucie Lock and Dam(44 reviews) - Great Place to Watch a Variety of Boats Use the Locks System Spent < 1 hour Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
We came to the St. Lucie Lock & Dam w/ another couple who has been here before. I was absolutely fascinated as to how the boats come into a lock. The boat come in @ a lower water level, the lock closes, and then the locks fills up w/ water to raise the water level so that the boat can easily continue on its journey. This is something that children would love to see as well as adults. There is no cost & you are able to walk all around the area. The Core of Engineer Campground is right next to this & we checked it out since we are also RVers. This is a great day trip to pack a lunch. You can sit & watch all kinds of boats go through the lock system. I would recommend this experience to the young & old @ heart. Great learning experience!See more..

Area to canoe and view the plant and animal life.See more..
Being in the area for a long weekend for the races at a nearby speedway, I looked for things to do during the day. The park was easy enough to find. There’s and elevated wood walkway (sorta like a boardwalk), perhaps a 1/8-1/4 mile long, that will bring you right to the falls. I mean, 10 minutes taking pictures there is more than enough, but I can see how it’s a relaxing respite for the local denizens.See more..

4.5River to Sea Trail Preserve(26 reviews) - Marineland Beach--a gem Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
We went to the Marineland beach area twice during our FL visit. There are facilities and plenty of parking. There is also a food truck parked at the end of the boardwalk that provided a great lunch. The sand is white and solid (you do not sink). Found some great shells when you walk away from Marineland park. It's not that crowded. However, make sure to stay in sections between the rocks. We had some great boogie boarding, however when tides changed it did get a little rough. There are no lifeguards on duty.See more..
4.5Venice Myakka River Park(26 reviews) - Alligators AND manatees Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
We went about 7pm, and parked a little way past the bridge and walked back towards it. We stopped when we heard very distinct grunts in the river. We didn’t see anything, but heard lots of noise. We then walked up to the bridge, and saw about 15 alligators congregating underneath. We also saw 2 manatees with them! So amazing!! Bring your bug spray though.See more..

I love kayaking at Cockroach Bay. If you want to stay on the marked trails, you can, but there are a lot of islands that you can leave the trail and explore. You can drive right up to the water to unload your kayak or boat. If you go on a day that is not windy it is calm and shallow, usually 2 to 4 feet deep for a good part of the area around the mangroves. There are tunnels to go through and if you go to the right from the launch to marker number 10, turn to the right and go around the sand bars to the bouys to the channels that lead to the bird watching area. There are no markers though so you have to remember how you got there. Lots of fish jumping and birds to see. If you go to the left from the launch there is another marked trail that I found is best at high tide. All in all, a great place to kayak, especially if you are willing to go slow and watch the water for things like crabs and rays.See more..

5.0Waccasassa River(5 reviews) - Paddling the Waccasassa River Bodies of Water
The Waccasassa is a sweet paddle. I paddled east from the Waccasassa River Park, heading away from the bay. Although not as "coiffed" as some of the Florida designated paddling trails, the Waccasassa has a natural beauty and serene feel. There were lots of downed trees, and about an hour and a half into my paddle, I couldn't get through and had to turn back.See more..

4.0Aripeka Sandhills Preserve(1 review) - Hidden gem of a park Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Found this park just surfing google maps and gave it a try. What a hidden gem of a park! This must’ve been a quarry in the past cause it comes with a limestone mountain next to a pristine pond. Absolutely beautiful and very unique for Florida. There’s off-road parking with an information kiosk but no restrooms. Approximately 2 miles of hiking in a loop trail and fishing is allowed in the pond. Not a lot of folks know about this park so it’s a great place to unplug for a couple of hours. Open from dawn to dusk 7 days a week. Definitely recommended.See more..
