Alligators AND manatees

We went about 7pm, and parked a little way past the bridge and walked back towards it. We stopped when we heard very distinct grunts in the river. We didn’t see anything, but heard lots of noise. We then walked up to the bridge, and saw about 15 alligators congregating underneath. We also saw 2 manatees with them! So amazing!! Bring your bug spray though.

Great hiking trails, and much, much more
First time, but not disappointed. Many trails to hike, and plenty of wildlife, if you know where to look. Birds, gators, wild boar, deer, and the list goes on. The Lake Boat Tour @ $20 pp, is a bit boring, but the boat/tour Captain was knowledgeable of the area. The hour boat ride is really not worth the money, unless, of course, you've never seen a alligator swimming in the water, then, maybe it's for you.

    Awesome little park
What a surprise so close to home! My daughter was visiting from out of town and wanted to go to Myakka River State Park in Sarasota. Unfortunately, it is still closed due to hurricane Ian damage. I discovered this little gem of a park located right in Venice at the end of Laurel Rd. Not only did we see TONS of alligators, the birds and river are beautiful. There are a few picnic tables if you want to pack a lunch. Not a large park, but it was a nice substitute. I will be sure to go back. Just a note that some of the reviews for this park are really for the larger park in Sarasota.
