5.0Navy Seal Museum(1.337 reviews) - History Close-Up Sunday: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM Military Museums
I have always read about and followed Navy Seals as I am very intrigued with their training. When in Vero Beach we saw this museum was nearby and had to visit. So glad we did! The museum you go through is at your own pace and you can quickly burn 2 hours before you know it. It is divided into periods and how the “Seals” evolved. I read a lot and watched videos going through the museum and thoroughly enjoyed it! All the artifacts are authentic and when I climbed into the chopper I thought how amazing it would be if there was ‘Virtual reality’ tied to it. Outside we climbed on boats and saw parts of the obstacle course. Go see this if you are in the neighborhood!See more..
327 Foot museum ship from WWII and Viet Nam. It is a National Historic Landmark. INGHAM served our country from 1936 to 1988 and in 1985 was the most decorated ship in United States Service as noted in a letter from President Ronald Reagan in the exhibit room. It is the last American Warship afloat to have sunk a German U-Boat (626) in WWII. It served as the Flagship for the seaside operation of General MacArthur's return to Corregidor in the Philippines. She served from 1936 to 1988. The ship is totally intact as if was on decommissioning day. Offering one of the best Sunset viewing venues in Key West on Friday and Saturday Evenings, serving wines and various Beers.See more..

We took a guided tour that incidentally started just five minutes after we got in around opening time on Memorial Day. They keep just a few people on payroll, and the rest are volunteers. We had George guide us, a Navy veteran whose informative and straightforward we appreciated greatly. This museum ship is a converted Liberty cargo ship, saved before being put for scrap some decades ago when container shipping made these vessels mostly obsolete. You get a real sense for life on the ship and what it must have been like for sailors to live here. I have visited other WWII-era ships in the past, and this one was right up there with the others in terms of value for my money. I recommend it to anyone who feels they would enjoy this sort of thing.See more..
Great Military Museum that covers all US conflicts, has some very unique displays, artifacts, uniforms and a tribute wall to our sisters who also served. If you are homeschooling kids, this is a must see to help understand our history. The guides have specialized knowledge, and are veterans as well, so they can give personal insights that most tours can not. The motor pool outside the museum has cars, jeeps, trucks and a tank that make for great outdoor photos. If you have a family member who served, they can help you to learn about their unit, where they fought, and fill in the historical gaps to generate interest of the younger generation in the family. Spent about an hour reviewing the exhibits. Alot of the exhibits have a direct connection to the DeLand NAS. The museum itself was the Master at Arms' quarters. It is a small building and can be crowded. There is a restoration hanger in back where volunteers are restoring aircraft. The volunteers are very knowledgeable.See more..

In the early 1940s, hundreds of Army fighter pilots of the 10th Fighter Squadron came to Zephyrhills Army Airfield before going to war. After WWII, the airport was donated to the city. The barracks where the pilots lived have all been demolished with this infirmary building being the only survivor. From 1977 to 2001, state and city grants allowed for restoration and preservation of this building. The Zephyrhills Museum of Military History holds treasured memories of the World War II veterans who lived and trained in Zephyrhills and others who served in the war. Over the years the collection has evolved to include earlier and later conflicts including the Civil War, the Korean War, the Viet Nam War, the tragedies of 9/11 and war in the Middle East.See more..
