DeLand Naval Air Station Museum, Florida, United States

4.0 (26 reviews) Sunday: Spent Ranking #15 in DeLand Military Museums

Interesting history

Spent about an hour reviewing the exhibits. Alot of the exhibits have a direct connection to the DeLand NAS. The museum itself was the Master at Arms' quarters. It is a small building and can be crowded. There is a restoration hanger in back where volunteers are restoring aircraft. The volunteers are very knowledgeable.

A Museum growing into the future!
Not a big place but, a museum working on preserving DeLands Navel past. DeLand was one of many training grounds for WW II pilots and support personnel. This museum is building a great base for a much greater exhibit of our past. If you go on saturday, you can help restore one of their fabulous restoration projects! Every time I go with my children, they get bigger!!!

Will Be Better in the Future.
I had found this on the internet of attractions near Ormond Beach, so we drove over to see it. At the moment it is open Wed to Sat 12 to 4. It is very small at present. They have lots of small pictures, books, etc in the small building. They are building a large building at the back, but it is not finished yet and they are doing what they can as they raise money. Admission is donation only. they have one plane fenced in )TBF Avenger) and another one they are working on restoring and they explain what it is and what they are going to do to it. They also have a PTF3 Fast Torpedo Boat they are fixing up. You can go on it and see it but it is very unsafe for children or anyone who is not careful. But they are doing the best with what they have, and I am sure in the future it will be great. It is a non-profit group and volunteer men run it.
