Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat maker and philanthropist John B Stetson in 1886. Situated right between Orlando and Daytona in DeLand makes it convenient for all visiting the central Florida area. This is Florida's first luxury estate and houses some of the most beautiful and intricate parquet floors in the world. The mansion is one of the first homes in the world to be designed and built with Edison electricity. The owners have painstakingly renovated every square inch of the 10,000 sq foot masterpiece while incorporating today's modern conveniences. All this was done without compromising the architectural or historical integrity. Deland should be proud of this venue. The park has 14 acres for Fido to romp around and make new friends. My boy fell in love with a poodle! They have the park separated so the little dogs won't be intimadated by the big dogs. However, the water is on the large dog side. For most dogs this is the best part as they can run around the big pond, swim, play fetch, and then roll around in the sand. If your pup ditches you feel free to take a walk as the area is very nice and there are benches scattered around to kick back and relax. I discovered Pure Vintage with a friend and we took the short ride north of DeLand to check it out. They have a large and varied selection of items, nicely displayed. Many of them are reasonably priced - they are vintage not antique and the priced reflect that. some of them are more than I would want to pay, some are very reasonable - you can always bargain. This is a site where a number of vendors rent space and prices will vary. I was sorry to see a negative post partly because the location was out of the way. Yes, DeLand has a number of antique shops close by, but DeLand also has a parking problem. I have not found any problems in three visits and have found a couple of furniture 'must haves'. See more..

As part of the developing area Spring to Spring trail this park makes an excellent start point. This park has an excellent child play area and facilities as well as unpaved trails to views of Lake Beresford. What I like most about this park is the trail access. There is a small - less than two mile loop around the park of a paved trail then access to about a 7 mile segment of the Spring to Spring trail in western Volusia county. The trail is mostly tree covered and unlike most rails to trails it winds and has climbs and falls. This variation in terrain makes this a most enjoyable ride even in summer heat and humidity. I highly recommend the park and its trails and find myself using it several times each week. See more..

Safe, clean, and so much to do. I took my 7 and 9 year old boys here while waiting on the next venom extraction demonstration at the Reptile Discovery Center in DeLand and was not disappointed. It is the primary launching point for boats in this area with very good parking capacity. It hosts a fishing area that draws many anglers, each searching for just the right bait to reel in a big catch. I picked the wrong time of year to explore this trail...summer. It was hot, humid, and the mosquitoes were ravenous. All that said, I love this trail! I did the full loop. The lush forest was beautiful, the peace and serenity unmatched, and the trail was well maintained. I sat down on logs often just to listen to the birds and the quiet.
