Military Museum of North Florida, Florida, United States

Stop by, you’ll be glad you did!

Great Military Museum that covers all US conflicts, has some very unique displays, artifacts, uniforms and a tribute wall to our sisters who also served. If you are homeschooling kids, this is a must see to help understand our history. The guides have specialized knowledge, and are veterans as well, so they can give personal insights that most tours can not. The motor pool outside the museum has cars, jeeps, trucks and a tank that make for great outdoor photos. If you have a family member who served, they can help you to learn about their unit, where they fought, and fill in the historical gaps to generate interest of the younger generation in the family.

Very interesting and well worth a visit
We didn't know what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised by our visit here. Located in an old Quonset hut that was at part of a former Naval Air Station located here, this museum has a nice collection of military memorabilia including uniforms, weapons, actual hardware, models, and dioramas. We had a guided tour by two young docents who did a great job, and a nice chat with another gentleman who's a part of the museum. This place covers the gamut of American military history, from pre-revolutionary war right up to the present. Outside there are a number of vintage military vehicles including a number of jeeps, other vehicles, a gun, and even a huge Landing Craft Transport that could hold 200 person and 100 tons of supplies. It is massive. This was a great time and best of all it's free. But we left a $20 donation and felt that we got our money's worth, for sure. If you're in the area, see this, you won't regret it.

    Informative and Moving
Jim was our tour guide. He brought the museum to life! Every item had a story and he knew them all. It was one of the highlights of our time in Green Cove Springs. You could not help but feel pride for our great men and women of the military and great appreciation for the sacrifices they made to keep us safe and free. The museum is small but FULL of personal artifacts from every branch of armed forces for each of the wars we have fought. The history is inspiring and a great reminder that freedom is not free! We highly recommend Jim and the Military Museum. We were there a little over an hour and would go back again when in the area.
