First time need to see!

Just in time for the holidays, historical tours of Flagler College's Hotel Ponce de Leon will begin hourly tours starting Saturday, December 11 through January 2. Tours will depart at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm. Due to limited capacity, it is heavily suggested to purchase tickets in advance. Tours highlight the architectural heritage of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, a nationally designated historic landmark building, built by Henry Flagler in 1888. The tour begins in the Rotunda, a 64-foot domed ceiling supported by eight ornately carved oak pillars. The interior dome displays stunning murals by George Maynard. The 800 seat Dining Hall boasts an elliptical barrel-vaulted ceiling, pierced with Tiffany stained-glass windows, musicians’ galleries, and carved oak chairs imported from Austria. Today students casually take their meals seated on these chairs.

    INCREDIBLY UNIQUE BUILDING
I highly recommend taking advantage of this tour. While it won't be longest tour you take in St. Augustine, it is very informative and you will see some of the most unique features you may ever see in the U.S. You can walk up and sign up for a tour at the gift shop however, I recommend signing up and paying online so you can pick your time as there are only so many times per tour day available. The only negative is that parking in the area can be scarce however, there are usually private pay lots nearby where you can park for the day for $10.

    Flagler College Legacy Tour
This is the only way you can see the beautiful dining room with its Tiffany windows and the ladies parlor. The tour guide today was Cheyenne, who presented the hour long tour with interesting information and dry good wit and humor. The tour covered parts of the building that was once the Ponce de Leon hotel. The hotel is a beauty with its glorious rotunda, beautiful courtyard and stunning ladies parlor and dining room with over forty incredible Louis Comfort Tiffany windows. I'm so glad I took the time to take this tour and would recommend it to anyone who appreciates architectural beauty and stunning craftsmanship.
