Great Ride!
It was a wonderful day for a ride. We rode our road bikes from the very beginning out to the gulf. Stopped for a short discussion at the picnic table that over looks the water. There was a gentle breeze coming on shore and the birds were very active. There are other picnic tables along the canal if you want to stop. It's a 5 mile trip one way for us. There are other entrances to the trail or you can drive all the way to the end if you. A nice place to take your family for a ride or a picnic. Restrooms and water fountain at the trailhead only.

Withlachochee Bay Trail Is Really Nice
This trail is perfect. It is a paved surface with many beautiful views of the old barge canal, the gorgeous plants and trees and many birds. We spotted an eagle and a osprey nest. There are covered pavilions along the trail for fishing and picnicking. We rode our bikes but there were others walking. I only wish it was a longer ride!

Withlacoochee Bay Trail
This item is mislabeled in TripAdvisor: What is of interest is the Withlacoochee Bay Trail, which begins about the trailhead listed, and runs SE to the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Nicely built trail, with numerous fancy pavilions offering shade for fishermen. The trail was clean of debris the day we rode it, so someone is blowing it regularly, but there are signs of neglect, mostly encroaching weeds along the margins.
