Excellent trail

It's not a really long walk and it's flat. I was lucky enough to get there in late afternoon when we were the only ones there. At the end of the trail is an overlook on the waterway which was very relaxing. Also, there is a place you can squat down and put your hands in the water. I splashed around a little and a very large bottlenose dolphin thought I was a tasty treat. He got quite close and rolled on his side to look at me. Then he splashed around the cove with his tail to see if there were any REAL tasty treats. He swam around a little more, then disappeared. What a totally memorable experience!

    This is a flat fairly short hike on a trail about 3' wide at it's narrowest and about 3/4 mile long round trip
    We tripped over this one while out exploring the Calusa Land Trust trails in the area. This is a flat fairly short hike on a trail about 3' wide at it's narrowest and about 3/4 mile long round trip. Along the trail you'll find several benches, as well as a grass roof shelter with picnic table. There is a nice pier and benches at the furthest most point overlooking St. James Creek. This was a very peaceful nature and wildlife-filled walk. There is a very low lying area before the piers that I could imagine being very muddy just after a heavy rain, but the rest is easily walkable. Very nice short hike with plenty of natural shade along the way. Parking is limited but this doesn't appear to be a busy place.

    Off-the-beaten track trail
    This 1-mile round-trip trail is a great place to walk Fido and keep your feet dry. When the other area trails are wet, this one will be dry. A half mile each way, you find a dock on the east end and it is a good place to sit and look at the water. Take your binocs and watch the sea birds. Or sit on the bench and read a good book. This is a hidden gem.
