Nice Place.

Windmill Island Gardens is home to de Zwaan windmill, the last mill allowed to be transported from the Netherlands. de Zwaan still functions by grinding locally-grown grain into flour that is sold to visitors and local businesses. A highlight of visiting is a tour of this historic working windmill. Visitors can enjoy music from our antique Dutch street organ given to the City of Holland by the City of Amsterdam after World War II. Children can also ride on our antique carousel from the Netherlands. There are several other replica Dutch buildings and shops. The Island is home to beautiful gardens which feature tulips in the spring followed by beautiful annuals and perennials throughout the summer. Please note that the Island will re-open for the 2019 season on Saturday, April 13. Last tickets sold at 5 pm.

    Holland Main Attraction
Tulips were just beautiful. We counted 144 varieties on the display boards of their info center. I had expected boundless fields of tulips, but the tulips are presented in gardens, and the gardens are scattered throughout the property, so the place is more of an easy walking tour. I’d recommend listening to the 20 minute video presentation about the windmill before making that stop. Knowing beforehand about the windmill operation made it more interesting. The staff was very welcoming and seemed to be genuinely glad to share their Gardens. We visited the week after the Tulip Festival and expected to get the end of blooms, but most of the flowers were still in bloom and after hearing about 2+ plus hour waiting lines for places to visit where we just breezed into, I would never recommend visiting during the Festival unless you enjoy the synergy of crowds and the wait times that come with them. I would make the Gardens a definite stop but in general, although very lovely, the tulip time is a one time visit.

    Nice Place.
My first visit to Holland this is the first place I went and wasn't disappointed the gardens are Beautiful. Because of Covid -19 the windmill tours were unavailable but because of that they reduced the Park admission and set up a movie inside a tent showing the inside of the windmill. The store had some Great merchandise. I would go back again if I were in the area.
