- 5.0 The Fogg Art Museum (28 reviews)
-Fogg Continues to Impress
Speciality Museums
We spent 4 hours at the Fogg Art Museum on the Harvard Campus and were very impressed with the galleries and holdings. Reservations are necessary; we made ours standing at the museum check-in desk. The Fogg holdings also included those from the Sackler and Busch-Reisinger, so it was not necessary to walk to other nearby buildings. Only disappointment was that the cafe was not open, so plan your refreshments in advance. Overall, our experience was very enjoyable. See more..
- 5.0 Maynard Outdoor Store (28 reviews)
-Top notch local store
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
My impressions are slightly different. Having done a considerable amount of comparison shopping over the years, I can attest to the fact that the prices at Maynard Outdoor Store for most items are more than competitive. This includes shoes, jeans, winter clothes, camping gear, and brand names like North Face. Several times we've seen something at the store, checked on line, and then returned to the store to purchase from them. I've always liked the staff, and they're a lot more knowledgeable than most. Return policies are generous -- 2 weeks, but they're usually not too strict. I'm glad there's an independent store like this that continues to prosper in this area amidst the likes of impersonal department stores like Target and Wal-Mart. See more..
- 5.0 Puppet Showplace Theater (28 reviews)
-Such a charming theater featuring some of the best puppetry talent in the USA.
Closed now - 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Theatre & Performances
First a disclaimer. I am a puppeteer. That being said I’ve seen many MANY crappy puppet shows. Fortunately the artistic team at The Showplace chooses only the best performers to do shows. Their Summer line up of performers was a who’s who of performers from across the USA. Their fall line up is even better. Go see a show. Just go. See more..

- 5.0 Martha's Vineyard Museum (25 reviews)
-Renovated building, great exhibits
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Art Museums • Children's Museums • History Museums
The Martha's Vineyard Museum (MVM) is a historical and cultural institution collecting art, artifacts, oral histories, documents, and photographs that help tell the stories of Martha's Vineyard from its formation as an island to the present. Founded as the Dukes County Historical Society in 1922, it was officially renamed the Martha's Vineyard Museum in 2006 to better reflect its focus on both collecting the history of the island and presenting, educating, and sharing it with the public. In 2011, MVM purchased the 1895 Marine Hospital site in Vineyard Haven and set out to transform it into a new museum. MVM made the decision to maintain ownership of part of its original Edgartown campus in order to continue to steward the historic Cooke House and create a public garden for the community. In March 2019, the Vineyard Haven site opened to the public with great fanfare and a blockbuster exhibit celebrating the island's profound influence on the work of Thomas Hart Benton. See more..

- 5.0 VinKari Safari (23 reviews)
-Fun place
Spent 1-2 hours Game & Entertainment Centers
In New England there are very few warm, dry, safe, clean, educational and fun places to bring young children to on a typical fall, winter, or spring day. Even in recent summers, New England weather and the abnormal amounts of rainfall have deprived children of suitable places to play. VinKari Safari is an innovative children's indoor playground that was designed and developed to meet the needs of the community and to exceed the expectations of both children and their parents. As parents, we were frustrated by venues that were not open to the general public in all four seasons for dropping in to play and by play places that we felt were too small for our children to exert a healthy amount of energy. The few play spaces that were available allowed teenagers to mingle with our toddlers, weren't clean, or lost our child's attention too quickly. Additionally, when it came to hosting birthday parties or other celebrations, New England weather simply could not be relied on. Furthermore, having dozens of children and parents at our home felt hectic and we hardly enjoyed the event worrying about the needs of all of our guests. By the end of our special day we didn't have many pictures, we missed many of the laughs and opportunities to connect with long time friends and family we had not seen recently, and we were left with the daunting duty of cleaning up the party. VinKari Safari is family owned and operated. We are grateful parents, first and foremost, with backgrounds in child care, psychology, and corporate catering events. We are mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and we are grandmothers and grandfathers as well. We have an ethnically diverse cultural heritage with a profound understanding of special needs too. Most importantly, we are your hosts and we, along with our children, Vincent and Karina, invite you to come play and have a wicked wild fun time at our safari themed children's indoor playground. - 5.0 Pond Meadow Park (23 reviews)
-Great space to breath
Spent 1-2 hours Parks
I needed to distract myself while Hannah was at VCA Weymouth having tests done. I stumbled upon the park and thought it a perfect place to spend some time. I did not explore to much but did spend some time on The Ranger Trail. The trail is short but winds through a small forest. It is wide and level but in some spots there are roots and rocks protruding. In addition to the walking trails there is a great bike path as well as picnic tables and a camp ground. This is a beautiful conservation, recreation and get a way space in the middle of an urban setting. Easy to reach from Braintree, Weymouth or any other of the neighboring towns. It is free to enter. - 5.0 Old South Presbyterian Church (23 reviews)
-Amazing historic tour
Churches & Cathedrals
I originally went there to pay my respects to my six times great grandfather Joseph Prince (the blind preacher) who is buried in the crypt along with his lifelong friends George Whitefield and Reverend Parsons. The tour was absolutely amazing. We learned so much about Whitefield and his ministry. Our tour guide Jerry did such a great job and was so informative and knowledgeable and did such a great job. We all agreed it was one of the best tours we had ever been on. I highly recommend anyone traveling to New England add this tour to their list. See more..
- 5.0 Jumptown (22 reviews)
-Great place for first skydive
Wednesday: Skydiving
My son and I went to Jumptown for our fist skydiving experience on June 27th. It was amazing. I have to say that this place was great. There were low clouds, so they were not sure if we could get up there. However, we came out, checked in and waited about 2 h. Then we got our chance, they saw a window and they got us up there. It was so cool. Really a good crew of people helping out. Super fun, made it seem and feel easy, no hassle, funny, kept the nerves calm and really was just so great. As you can tell the adrenaline is still going. Free falling for 60 sec is so awesome. Once the shoot came out we were brushing a cloud, so great. Highly recommend the video and stills. The video was absolutely killer. That guy is a real videographer. My son and I had different camera people, and both were excellent. This is the place to go! See more..

- 4.5 Lynn Memorial Auditorium (97 reviews)
-Good Venue & Great Show
Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Theaters
This was a bigger venue than I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise! There’s not much to do in the area, but it’s a great spot for a show - plenty of parking and not too crowded where it’s a nightmare getting in and out of the venue area. The inside of the auditorium was great too, you could see the stage pretty well and you could hear everything perfectly. The bathroom situation was a little tough, each bathroom only had 2 stalls so there were pretty long lines, and the merch table was right in front of the doors to get to your seats so it was very crowded, but not a problem to get around. Overall, I think it was a good venue for a show! See more..
- 4.5 Zeiterion Performing Arts Center (97 reviews)
-Comfy air conditioned venue with great sound
Theaters
We were in New Bedford for their annual music festival formerly known as Summerfest. It was our first time attending this particular festival and we are accustomed to the camp out & sit outside on a hillside in the hot sun & pouring rain kind of festival. Having the main-stage in a comfy air conditioned venue (& on 2 very hot days) was a new experience for us. Its my understanding that this is the first year that the Ziterion was used for this purpose and that the main-stage had been under a canopy in the park in previous years. See more..

Appetizers were beautifully presented and delicious, followed by 5-6 dishes for the main meal and a fabulous fresh lemon and blueberry dessert. There was a cash bar with several choices of wine and beer as well as a live music throughout the meal. It was a really fun and different evening out, and we learned some great facts about the farm! - 4.5 Deer Island HarborWalk (95 reviews)
-Always a good walk
Hiking Trails
Foggy day yesterday, you couldn't see the tops of the Digesters or Boston or the airport. Every now and then you'd hear a plane. We were especially looking for the new Irish Memorial at Deer Island, and only found it due to the fortuitous timing of a shoe needing retying. This memorial is on the "upper level" as it was, sort of facing Logan airport, close-ish to where Bella is remembered and above the panel remembering the Native Americans who perished on the site. You do have to climb about 40 feet of path to get to the memorial, I've attached a picture See more..

We went there in early October to celebrate our daughter’s 35th birthday. She loves their beer! They did a great job keeping everything safe during Covid. The outdoor seating was spread out and decorated for fall. All ordering was contactless (bar coders on the table). The food was very good (taco truck that day) and quality beers as usual. During Covid, it’s only open for outside dining Thursday through Sunday. They did a great job keeping everything safe and clean—even the porta-potties were immaculate. Highly recommend it! See more..

- 4.5 Larz Anderson Park (93 reviews)
-Ice Skating at a family friendly rink
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Parks
My wife is from the area, and she suggested that we bring our kids there on a beautiful January Sunday to ice skate. My eldest was not keen on doing this, but after seeing his brother and I skating decided to join in. They have plenty of the rigid plastic "guides" for off-rink skating and learning and that was the bonus for them to get them warmed up. Very family friendly, good pricing, plenty of skates to rent, and its entirely outdoors (which is best on a sunny day). Enjoy the mild winter we are having! Great music to skate to, as well. - 4.5 Mount Sugarloaf State Reservation (89 reviews)
-Great place to hike with young kids
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Excellent hike on a rainy day. Parked at the south entrance and hiked to observation tower with my 5 year old. It is steep from the lot to the observation area, but not overly challenging. Best route for kids that are sure footed hikers. I would probably not bring my clumsy 12 year old this way. Hiked back down the back way which is much more of a gentler slope, just a longer hike. Had a blast. Views would have been great had it not been raining. Had a great time anyway. See more..

The moment we turned into the entrance, we were taken in! The welcoming country store was appointed with period antiques, handmade gifts and baked goods. The grounds were well maintained and the staff, to a person, was friendly and helpful. A special “shout out” and note of thanks to Al for his assistance and wealth of apple information. Don’t miss his delightful dog, Daisy! Families will love the goats, and other farm animals. This will be our fall go-to for autumn charm, apples and pumpkins! ( Oh, and during these Covid times, it’s worth noting, the bathrooms were scrupulously clean and all the staff and guests wore masks. We felt so comfortable enjoying the beautiful outdoors!)
